I feel the same about upgrading my 400  Confused is it worth 6000€......I have another option to move on from Devialet but that will mean more cash so I cant really decide.

Of course we're all curious as to what the other option is...would you like to tell us?  Rolleyes

I'd say the remote is definitely new as the dial is really heavy to turn which I remember from the previous one when it was new. New box with new bag (blue innercolor). The old SD card is in the glove box.

The packaging is not very discrete though. Clearly on the box printed what is inside and a print of the invoice with the amount of money worth it. Would have been better that this information was less visible.

Now waiting for a few days to sit for a listen.
It would be helpful to know whether yours is an entirely new unit or just valeted. My understanding is that upgraders get new innards in their original casework.

If a wholly new device is offered, (a) why is the process of upgrading so convoluted - you could simply effect the swap instantly at a dealer; (b) why cannot cross-upgrades be offered e.g. 400 to 1000 Pro?

I am also not clear whether the promised 'free' board will be owner-fit; dealer-fit or factory-fit.

It may be the sheer complexity of the whole business that makes present owners either stick with what they have or look more widely for their next upgrade.

The upgraded units definetly come with their original (refurbished) case. The Wifi module seemed to be the same, everything else was swapped (incl. the power switch).

I was told by Devialet, that the Streaming Board will be user replaceble. I have now idea why they do not upgrade the ODAs yet :-( The original say was: we don´t want to send it twice because of the finish.....

Who knows...

Anyway I look forward to your report re the O d'A v 1000 PRO.

Then they really did a very good polishing job.I posted earlier that the remote also looked brand new which I also thought it was as the dial turns really heavy (up to the point that you sometimes need to hold the base with the other hand to keep it from also turning.
Since today the remote dial can only be turned 3/4 of a round and that stops and it starts to make mechanical clicking sounds also.

Created a support ticket. Hoping they can replace it with a new one without the need for sending the D220 also back.
The D220 has now been burning in for two days. Definitely the sound quality i not yet up to the level it should be. Previously owned a D120 which didn't need that long of a burn-in period. Hopefully over time it will turn out ok. Read on this forum that for some people it took weeks....

My last amp was a Moon i7, which needed about 6 weeks to burn-in properly. I was ringing my dealer weekly, and got the same advice each time.....be patient!

Not sure if it's the same with Devialets, but if the internals are all brand new, it might take a bit of time to get them to their best.

Thanks for this. Pity that there aren't more upgrade options though. Selling a D400 to move higher up the tree might prove difficult,

iamwappie,

My D120 seemed much better after about 60 hours of playing; a slight metallic sheen disappeared. For me, the change took about 3 or 4 weeks, as I don't listen for hours every day. I was skeptical about burn-in, but I feel totally confident that there was a noticeable change in the sound, and it was absolutely for the better.
