New guy here.. I'll be using my Shunyata Talos.. And since I now only need two power cords I'll probably upgrade from the Shunyata Black Mamba CX HC's and an AudioQuest NRG1000 to a pair of the new Shunyata Ztron HC

Do you own a 400 or 800?

You might also want to take a look at the Shunyata Z-PC10, which I understand was developed with the Devialet in mind. See: http://www.audioaficionado.org/shunyata-...ialet.html

Thanks.. My plan is to buy a 200 either this week or next.. still need to sell off my current amp (sold the Dac yesterday) And I did see the Z-PC10 thanks.. I need to speak with the Shunyata folks about its performance relative to the others.

I see, so one PC to connect the Talos to the wall and another to connect the 200 to the Talos?

Keep us posted on your findings.

Exactly

Erik,

I run with JPS Kaptovators, perhaps have a look at these, made a big diff with my Dev's specially in the bass region and dynamic kick.

Answer: “The power cord is not the last 6 feet, it is the first 6 feet from the perspective of the component.”

That's a cracker!

Yes from a marketing POV, but just as irrelevant

Precisely: clever, but meaningless (just my opinion).

I personally found it very interesting. Caelin Gabriel is very open about his ideas and happy to interact with his customers on forums. I haven't personally tried Shunyata cables (until recently they didn't have a UK distributor) but have spoken to a few who have and most seem very impressed. The Triton/Typhon mains filtering products are supposed to be very good indeed.

I'm a recent convert from Naim to Devialet and have never got around to comparing power cables (at least partly because I would have needed 6 or 7 separate cables).

For many years (probably 30+) Naim quietly implied that there was no benefit to be gained by using any power chords other than the basic ones they supplied. They then developed a new cable called the Powerline and the Naimees piled on-board including some cost-conscious people who's opinions I value. In my opinion Naim are not purveyors of the same kind of marketing b******* and snake oil that many of their high-end competitors proffer so I'm sure that they believe that power chords can make a difference.

I found the Shunyata article interesting but hardly convincing... Anyway, now my 200 has settled down I am prepared to try some different power cables although I admit I'm still very sceptical about the likely benefits.

My short list:

- Naim Powerline (for reasons stated above though it won't fit under the Devialet cover so I probably won't buy one)
- Mark Grant (as I understand James N uses one with his Devialet and they're not expensive)
- Music Works (because my dealer has recently tried them with Devialet and says they do improve the sound and I can easily borrow one)

Regards,

Philip
