First off I don't do any PC Audio, wireless or otherwise, that includes DSD format music files. Just not into PC audio other than loading 24/96 & 24/192 files onto a USB stick that goes into my Oppo 95 which feeds my 200.

So my question is in theory am I bastardizing the quality of SACD reproduction when playing SACD discs in my Oppo given it starts out as a digital file, gets converted into analog as it leaves my Oppo and then is digitized once again upon it's arrival into the 200 - either sampled at 96 or 192?

Yes I've read there is a chance that there will be an announcement of DSD application in Munich and suspect that if anything comes to pass it will be DSD type files via USB input but that doesn't address what happens when playing discs in my source.

I am anything but an expert but to me would multiple conversions make the final outcome less "pure"?

Just something that makes me go hmmmmmm...... Confused
I have a small number of SACD's. I play these using a Pioneer "Universal" disc player. Basically a mid-market Blueray player that will play SACD's amongst other things. Although this offers a pure digital from end, the player converts Bitstream to PCM digital output, effectively converting the DSD to 24bit. It actually sounds pretty good considering this is a very cheap player relative to the rest of the system. Unless someone can prove me wrong on this, because the Devialet's internal architecture features 24/192 digital processing, then any method of playing DSD will be compromised to a degree? Having said that, considering 24/192 is such high resolution, if the conversion is done well, I'm not sure that this actually matters to much?
Thanks for the reply. I've got about 5 dozen SACD discs, a small collection compared to some people so I was curious as I have found many times that some of my best sounding music is on SACD.

Unlike the Pioneer I believe the Oppo keeps it all in native DSD when converting to analog, hence my thought on not being quite as "pure".

Like anything, I'm convinced I'll get used to it and it doesn't make me like my 200 any less
I guess this is DSD to analogue - analogue to PCM 24bit vs DSD to PCM 24 without the analogue bit. No doubt the Oppo is the better piece of kit though and I have read elsewhere that the Oppo's analogue output is exceptionally good. If it sounds good I would forget the technical stuff and enjoy the tunes!
As far as I know there no way to output DSD stream from the OPPO 105D. Thanks to the Oppo support team advice I set up an HDMI Audio De-Embedder (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009KAU...ge_o02_s00) to extract the 192/24 stream from the HDMI so that I can feed the D200 with a Digital stream without any D/A/D conversion.

the sound is so good then
I use the same HDMI embedder for my Oppo 103. It works perfectly for streaming high resolution from SACD en Blu Ray to Devialet D200

Hi!

I have ordered something similar to your de-ember for HDMI audio.  A couple of questions:
Do you use the de-embedder in line with the HDMI 1 output, or use HDMI 2?

How do you set up the Audio format/Audio processing menus?

Thanks in advance,

Al.
The Devialet converts DSD to 384 sampling I am sure whether that is 40 bit or24 bit.

IIRC the Oppo can be set to not convert DSD to PCM for internal playback. I also thought that the Oppo could send a DSD signal via HDMI to a receiver with DSD capability
I do remember reading at AVS Forums about Oppo offering an upgrade to allow the transmission of SACD via the HDMI cable but it was well over a year ago. At that time I do recall once you downloaded that software into the 95 model you could not revert back to a prior version so I never did it. I'll have to revisit those forums to see if I can find out more info. The problem is you need days to locate stuff as the members there post like fiends and threads become hundreds of pages long in no time...

the nice thing about the embedder is that it would release another pair of interconnects as I only use that pair for SACD/DVD-A/BR-Audio disc playback - everything redbook enters my 200 via SPDIF
