AIR petition to Devialet Management, please sign - ledesc - 09-Jul-2016 I'm happy you understand the purpose of my ironic post. Nothing against US nor Dr Tone. Just the fact you can't go so far, or maybe with Portuguese ? Let see tomorrow. Thank you for captioning my mood exactly. The Air issue is bad enough, but the the total disrespect of future buyers, the lies about air being the greatest thing since sliced bread, the chain of broken promises is much worse. It is not a Sonos of 200 euros we are talking about. Air has nothing to with wifi 2. name and shame is the only response available when a company refuses to address a problem for two years RE: AIR petition to Devialet Management, please sign - Georgethesixth - 09-Jul-2016 I think Dr Tone tweet and the petition could and should support each other. Think of the petition as 88 likes and you know what I mean. The reason I selected a petition as medium is the less fleeing character., the ability to link to it on forums where audiophiles are active, and the ability to link to it under every new product review. Devialet will probably the magic AIR solution the moment the new Expert series arrive. It is something I couldn't mention in the text, but they should. We will never know the impact of public pressure, but I'm pretty sure Quality Assurance and engineering know Air3 has to work. I get my "on sale" tweets from prostudiomasters, acousticsounds, 7digital etc. Tweets about gear reviews from my favourite magazines and reviewers. I quit Facebook quite a few years back as I got tired of hearing when old school friends were sad or hungry or bitching about the opposite sex. It seems some Expert users feel very strongly that they won't sign the petition a) because they haven't been affected personally and b) because they feel its something that affects so few people as to not be a real problem (bloody moaners), and even then it was probably their own fault for not setting their wifi up properly like they did to make theirs work. Not content with not signing, they actively try and undermine the petition and those who have suffered. What selfish b*****ds I thought! No wonder it's so hard to change the world. The irony being if their Devialet developed a fault (as an example), and remained broken for two years, prompting them to start a petition after all else had failed, I'd still sign theirs even though it didn't affect me personally or even if I didnt agree with it, or even if I disliked them. Why? Because if just one person was suffering unfairly I would feel compelled to help and try and back them up in being heard. I actually thought that community sprit was a lot stronger in the Devialet world, but this petition has really shown that not to be the case IMO. As for the numbers it's a shame it's been slow to reach even the 100 mark, but I don't feel that's any vindication of it being a small problem. It certainly affects well more than 100 people. I can only imagine most people have moved on, or see it as another pointless exercise since Devialet do what they do regardless, or perhaps a lot of Mac users now see the light with the new beta? Of course, who knows what percentage of Expert users even follow forums. I've no idea how many Experts have been sold. If Devialetchat represents the best data for ownership, then it could be said from the 'what model do you own' poll that there are only 140 Expert owners interested in online forums enough to take part in a poll. Assuming a petition was along similar lines as a poll, 100 users out of 140 is a big percentage. The point is numbers can be spun any way you like. In any event the good that's come of it IMO is a lot more people are becoming aware of how Devialet treat some of their customers, and how poor some of their software is. I've already seen posts by people surprised at Devialet, and deciding to hold off buying, and I've seen posts where it's been pointed out that while the petition itself may not achieve its goal, it will almost certainly have an affect on the brands reputation and/or sales. Is it still pointless? In some ways probably. But lots of little things add up to making a difference and things take time. I'd urge people not to give up, keep the threads alive on other websites, and try and get the numbers up. If nothing else it keeps the issue public for longer and at the least may save someone else from making a bad purchase. For those who haven't signed, and are happily listening to their fully working setup while laughing at the little guys trying in vein to get Devialet to do something - it must feel great to be you! Well done for being so amazing! PS it's probably time to up the target to a few hundred now. RE: AIR petition to Devialet Management, please sign - Confused - 10-Jul-2016 Some good points! I think it is fair comment that the majority of Devialet owners are not that active on-line, there is indeed good evidence of this from the occasional poll on this very forum, which tend to hit the 100 votes or so. Plus, you post one good question, what are the total sales of the Expert range? Has anyone got any approximate numbers? I'm not so sure about upping the target to a few hundred though? The total count was still in the 90's last time I looked! RE: AIR petition to Devialet Management, please sign - PhilP - 10-Jul-2016 (10-Jul-2016, 11:12)Confused Wrote: Some good points! A Techcrunch article in 2014 said Devialet had sold 3,500 amps that year ($15M). If that figure is correct then perhaps they've sold 10,000 in total (not including Phantom). RE: AIR petition to Devialet Management, please sign - Confused - 10-Jul-2016 Oh, and by the way. Yesterday I was doing endless back to back tests with my little microRendu. This morning, I have been doing a few odd tasks and have been running iTunes /AIR for some 'background' music. Anyway, massive blast of white noise! What? The thing is AIR stutters for me, but I have not had white noise for a while. It occurred to me that I now have an mR connected to my network, so I turned this off. Back to the music, massive blast of white noise, that actually caused the amps to shut down. WT#?? I have never had that before! You know what, for those who have said 'I have never had white noise', OK, fair enough, but you will never know just how b##### alarming it is! After some calm thinking, I recalled that I had switched the Windows soundcard GUI to 24/192 during my experiments yesterday, that was it. With iTunes / WASAPI / the Windows GUI needs to be on 16/44.1, I switched back, and AIR has been fine, well, fine and stuttering. You know what, my free time is precious, I have no idea how much of my free time AIR has wasted over the years. A 20k amp with ' the world's most advanced audio streaming technology'. Errr, no. Some of that free time in the past was beta testing AIR for Devialet. I provide information, they say 'thank you for the data, I will pass to our engineers'. No feedback, nothing. Was the data useful? Is there something else they were looking for? I have no idea, Devialet provide no feedback. This would be fine if they had the ability to fix it, but they clearly do not. It was interesting to have a few blasts of white noise this morning though, my god it's bad when it happens!! |
