Created a brand new one from scratch. It worked great first time, then I tried it again with the RAM setup stuff. Failed miserably. Looks to me like the problems are related to the configurator with the new firmware. Gave up. Would rather listen to music than mess around with configurations (I do that all day at work).

I'll give it another try at a later date.

I can confirm that RAM works on my 120.

I imagine the journalist who wrote that it would not work with the 120 May not have been aware that the 120 started supporting MC cartridges with last year's update.

Also, I have one remote button assigned to RAM and one to SAM. A long press of the SAM button brings up the tone control menu. Not sure if the same applies with ICM.

RE: Firmware 8.0 - Rufus McDufus - 16-May-2015

I'd be surprised if a corrupted/incomplete download would cause these problems. I'd be surprised if it would even load correctly on the Devialet at all. I know they do checksum matching on the config file (which makes it awkward to hand edit the file) and would like to think they do the same on the component files of the firmware at update time, or roll the firmware update back if there was a problem loading one of the files. I could be wrong though.

Wish I'd taken my own advice and left well alone Wink Hopefully I can revert back to v7 with no issues.

USB is working fine on my 800. I'm usually using AIR, but for some DSD testing I have to use USB.
Have you used the same SD card to update both units ? Keep in mind that the update is removing 2 files to make sure that the update is only perfomed once. You have to copy all files (or find out which 2 files are missing) again to get a correct update of the second unit. This happens to me as well, the strange thing is that also the second unit is showing firmware version 8.0.0, but the second update is much faster, so it does not copy all files.

I had the same problem when using AIR eth or phono inputs. After playing for a while with the configurator I have this problem "only" with the phono input anymore. Phono works great if I don't configure sub out... So I have to choose whether I want to use sub or listen vinyls. Tough choice  Smile

Re: Firmware 8.0 - agentsmith - 16-May-2015

Everything works fine, good to finally have DoP playback. Is there anything this box cant do?

Btw, i wonder if the adc supports dop too? Should try with vinyl studio this weekend

Maybe it was just a glitch with my unit, not sure, but I prefer to wait for some updates to 8.0 and additional comments from more users and from Devialet. Unfortunately I did not save the old SAM/Config file so now I have SAM V2 with 7.1.1, not great...

Al, thank you. I have done it twice and reverted twice with the same results… I'll wait a few days to see if Devialet releasees a 8.0.1 potentially if they hear of other issues.

I am having the same exactly the problem( D400 & Ayron raptor S):

After the 8.0 upgrade power was down, dynamics were crushed, there were strange power management issues with literally volume changing on its own.
I downgrade to 7.1.1 and the system back again to breathe .
For me this is the worst new firmware results ...

I have check it several times ... with the same results .
I will also wait for the next version

RE: Firmware 8.0 - samurai7595 - 16-May-2015

Last night I upgraded to Firmware v8.0.0 and reconfigured my system using the new online Configurator tool.  All was successful and the system sounds great!

I haven't encountered any issues and all my sources work fine.  I'm running SAM on my ProAc Response D30R floorstanding speakers and find the bass more "refined" with the new firmware.

I'm also running my Rega RP10 /Apheta 2 combo directly through my Devialet 200 (with default settings) and so far, I like what I'm hearing.  I will experiment with RAM and maybe sell off my Rega Aria MC/MM phono stage (still testing).

So far, I'm very happy with the new firmware!

Devialet can't handle it or speaker fail?
I'm not going to discuss this anymore because there is no point.

Configurator has under "general settings" option to disable Power Managment. Default is enabled. Would this help ?

RE: Firmware 8.0 - Axel - 16-May-2015

I find it very strange that some people have no problems with the new firmware update whilst some have had to go back to 7.1.3 or earlier to get their D to work at all.

 1. I would try using a brand new SD card or make sure that you delete everything from your existing card, download firmware 8 onto it and upgrade your D exactly as it says here: https://help.devialet.com/entries/34010612-How-to-upgrade-the-internal-firmware-of-your-Devialet

2. Make a brand new configuration from scratch , which is a PITA but may be worth it.
3. Again delete everything from your SD card or use a fresh one then load the new configuration onto it. Load this onto the D by inserting into the card slot whether the D is turned on or off.
4. Hold down the on/off button until the amp goes into a "clean boot". Wait until the amp has reset itself, cross your fingers and give it a try.

Hopefully, doing this might eliminate any incompatibility between the new firmware and old versions of the configuration files or vice versa.

I'm looking forward to getting my amp back from repair and giving it a go for myself!

Good luck!
