Aphex Twin - Syro. Just released. His first album for 13 years but every bit as amusing and intriguing as his earlier works.

Beerman, I'm curious about the Billie Holiday record: how good is it? Not just its sound, but the music and singing itself...

Thanks!

Thanks!

the music and the singing is very relaxed, elegant and strainless, all titles are slow blues, plenty of time for short solos for the musicians. The musicians are great, e.g. on trumpet Harry „Sweets“ Edison, sax player Ben Webster or guitar player Barney Kessel.
The singing of Billie Holiday can´t be criticized, it is involving and very emotional.
You surely will recognize the age of this recording (1957), but as a lot of the recordings of these era, it is surprisingly well done, with full and rich body of voice and instruments.
