Sophie Oil of Every Pearl Review

Wild weird brilliant stuff that will test your system. Like if Autechre were a glossy pop band.

A request for more information:

18 months ago or so there were a few posts requesting that messages here include a bit of information about the music  being recommended; a description of the genre or a few comments about the music or the album. Or why it is different than other albums by the same artist. As they say on the Naim forum, 'what are you listening to and why might anyone be interested'. Album covers are great but sometimes the images are so small that the text with the artist name or album title is unreadable.

This is the thread I come to much more than any other so the album info and some brief opinion/ editorial notes would be very much appreciated.

Thanks all.

Good post Damon. If I might presume to add: it's worth bearing in mind that any images posted on this thread are likely to disappear at some point (unless they're attachments stored in DC itself) so it's good to have the album title, artist etc. in textual form. That also serves to make it searchable which is handy if you find yourself listening to something and then thinking "I know I found that on DC, but who posted it?" or even "have I posted this myself already?".

Carole King. Tapestry. Tidal/Roon

Guillaume, did you feel any of the seismic activity in your area?
For those that don’t know, there have recently been five small earthquakes measured in Guillaume’s location.

I'm sure I've posted this album before, but it seems to be perfect listening for a sunny Sunday morning with the doors wide open...

The Orb "No Sounds Are Out Of Bounds" (on Qobuz)

Enjoying this very much.  Don't know my genres well enough to attempt to pigeonhole it, but I'd describe it as chilled-out electronica.

Rhye, Blood.
New discovery last night. Heard some soft, entrancing vocals on a Bonobo track last - I’d heard before but this time I was listening properly and really noticed it. I saw Rhye listed as performer in the track level detail in Roon so checked them out. And found this gem of scandy electronic soft vocals. Wikipedia says r&b but not by my definition. In any case a great listen. Still have an earlier album to checkout.

Haven’t found new music that way in Roon for a while - too lazy I guess - but it pays to click and explore!
