RE: What album are you listening tonight? - f1eng - 18-Nov-2014 Stravinsky, Rite of Spring, Simon Rattle, CBSO, on CD, spectacular dynamic range! Disturbances like hiccups or failing connection are really seldom heard. I did some testing between my own cd rips as flac's and the streaming. Mostly I (or my guests) cannot tell the differences between the two. I'm streaming via a Qobuz desktop app and via the AIR ethernet connection. In my signature you can find my setup. Qobuz is always first downloading the track in a cache on the harddisk; in my case on a SSD on my HTPC. This might have some effect on the music quality. I often read that a SSD is better then a spinning harddisk, causing less jitter. Qobuz is also offering the possibility of bitperfect (wasapi), at least on a Windows pc. When playing a album Qobuz is playing gapless. If I really do like a CD I like to download it if a version in highres is available. Highres is mostly sounding a bit better then the 44.1/16 version. I also appreciate the possibility of downloading for offline use. Being mostly a classical music lover I think Qobuz has a lot to offer. Their ID-tagging is mostly very good and usually I can easily find the music I'm looking for. And it helps me to discover all kinds of other music, some of us (I.E. Eddye) call it 'contemporary'. Qobuz is opening my eyes in this regard. I think Qobuz is still offering the possibility of a testing period of one month, free of charge. So why don't you give it a try to find out if it will satisfy you. My only concern is that I read somewhere that they are in financial trouble and I'm afraid they may go out of business Re: What album are you listening tonight? - amabrok - 19-Nov-2014 http://spellbindingmusic.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Youn-Sun-Nah-Lento.jpg Last night I was blown away by Youn Sun Nah's Lento! A wonderful performance and an excellent recording. If you really want a magical moment listen to track 5 Momento Magico, unbelievable!!! Streaming on qobuz RE: What album are you listening tonight? - Mohmm - 19-Nov-2014 (19-Nov-2014, 05:02)amabrok Wrote:(18-Nov-2014, 22:55)Charlemagne Wrote: Being a Qobuz customer for about one year, I must say I'm very satisfied about the streaming quality they are offering. So I will give it a try. RE: What album are you listening tonight? - Charlemagne - 19-Nov-2014 (19-Nov-2014, 06:24)amabrok Wrote: Last night I was blown away by Youn Sun Nah's Lento! Like it too. Great album. Also Qobuz for me. RE: What album are you listening tonight? - Charlemagne - 19-Nov-2014 Jazzy blues with a classical touch; well recorded; Qobuz again: Paulien van Schaik & Hein van de Geyn / Musing Paulien sings and Hein plays the Double(-Dutch) Bass; there are strings as well. My favorite track is "Good Morning Heartache". RE: What album are you listening tonight? - f1eng - 20-Nov-2014 Drums of Death Red Waves downloaded from iTunes store. followed by Mahler Kindertotenlieder sung by Kathleen Ferrier, my absolute favourite singer on CD. RE: What album are you listening tonight? - amabrok - 20-Nov-2014 Donald Fagen: The Nightfly |
