JRiver MC21 - Confused - 22-Jul-2015

I see JRiver have released MC21.  Has anyone tried this?  Any observations regarding useful new features, sound quality or anything else?

It's not released yet...

Their plans show no audio related features or improvements. http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=98572.0

Thanks Antoine! A useful link. I was flicking through some emails earlier and noticed one from JRiver asking for cash for MC21, I guess I should have paid a bit more attention, as I missed the fact that it's not released yet.

It's a bit cheeky asking for money for a not yet available upgrade though.

After the above jumped start, it appear that MC21 is now available. According to the email I received from them today it includes "additional support for audiophile features".

Anyone tried it yet or know if these "new features" are of any use?

I only use JRiver for audio on my computer, so I'll stick with MC20.

I am running MC21. 21.0.5 at the moment. As Antoine says further up there is not much Audio related improvements. I only use DLNA server with the DSP function enabled (convolution & parametric eq). Very reliable playback. Configuring DSP with DLNA is still well hidden and not optimal, but it works although gapless is (still) broken with convolution enabled. I hear no audio improvements the way I use MC.

A quick tip for any JRemote users, I have a new iPad AIR and the JRemote app does not work, it crashes on opening. Checking on the JRiver forum, this is apparently an IOS9 issue, and a fix is pending Apple approval. So if you use JRemote, hold off updating to IOS 9 for a while.

The iPad remote issue has now been fixed.

RE: JRiver MC21 - Confused - 22-Jul-2016

Just received an email announcing the arrival of JRiver MC22. This version does at least look like it has a few improvements(?) for those using for 2 channel playback:

'Audio
NEW: MC has a new high quality Sox resampler. NEW: Memory playback now allows full albums. NEW: Cover art during playback for tracks that lack cover art. NEW: Right click Car Radio buttons to select playlist to use. NEW: Hold shift to select volume for all linked zones.'

To be honest, I have absolutely no idea what practical use a Sox resampler is, I guess this might be exciting to someone?
