Hi all
Another new Devialet convert here (ex Naim). A few weeks into ownership of a D200 and really enjoying it thus far.
Had a question though. Like many I'm sure, I have a home theatre setup and using the Devialet bypass input for the front two channels from my Yamaha AVR. Problem with the Dev is the lack of IR remote receiver meaning I can no longer control everything from the one universal remote. I just spotted however that the Dev has a trigger input on the back and my AVR has trigger output, so in theory I should be able to get the Dev to auto start when watching movies. Different sockets and plugs so goodness knows how I'd sort out a lead to match them up but has anyone else tried this?

i cant see any documentation on how to use the port in a trigger in..
what sort of plug does the yamaha have for the trigger out?

Seems to be a RCA phono socket on the Yamaha for the trigger out and a stereo 3.5mm jack plug on the Dev for the trigger in. Would have to be a custom wired lead, if I can work out what to wire to what!

One use for the Devialet trigger cable is for dual mono set ups, when you want to use the inputs on the companion. When you do use a companion input, the trigger cable communicates between the companion and master to switch the direction of the dual mono SPDIF cable, which then sends signal from companion to slave, rather than the other way around. Effectively making the slave the master for this input. I am not 100% sure if this is the only way you can use the trigger input, however, the second 3.5mm jack input can be used as either a Toslink input or RS 232 control. See link:

EDIT - Just reading through my own link above, the trig in can be used for remote on / off. How or if this is compatible with a Yamaha AV unit, I will leave to the truly cleaver people out there.

I'd imagine that a 3.5 mono headphone to RCA mono jack would do the job as the trigger in on the Devialet is the tip.

Hmmm not sure - doesn't use of a two pole jack plug in a three pole socket mean you'd be shorting two poles in the Dev? Think that would be the ground to the trigger out if I recall the diagram Devialet publish correctly...

Ok, got off my backside to check the back of the Yamaha (was previously reading the manual because checking the back of the Yamaha means pulling it out of the rack). Was actually a 3.5 mm socket as well not an RCA after all (the manual really wasn't clear on that). Went for a rummage in my cables box and found a stereo 3.5 mm to 3.5 mm. Then used the Configurator to switch on the trigger input on the Dev. Connected everything up and.....
It works!!!! The Dev comes on when the AVR is switched on AND the Dev switches off when the AVR is switched off - result!!
I've configured the Dev to set to AV bypass as the default startup option so that's job done I think. The one weakness of not having an IR remote sensor is a weakness no more.
That's a good Sunday's work methinks. Time for a cuppa and a few biccies (and maybe a movie).

Great job - sometimes all it takes is that simple operation of removing a..e from chair

Yes that is one of the downsides of the Devialet - it encourages too much a**e in chair listening to wonderful music
