Exactly what I was thinking. I'd definitely compare Mutec on a Mac or PC as well, you never know, you might not even need the Aurender/Melco? Yes, I agree. I may well consider this when I'm I little further through my auditioning process. It's too soon currently, is I'm totally unsure which direction all this is heading. Having said that, I'm becoming tempted to buy one anyway. I currently have my baby Mutec, a W4S Remedy Reclocker. If I sell this, it wouldn't be much more cash to fund the Mutec. I've sold the Intona last week. I tried it (after I got it back with the latest firmware) before the Mutec, but I couldn't hear a difference, positive or negative, in my system. Thanks, Antoine. Perhaps I should have clarified that, with the Mutec, there is no option to use a USB output. Therefore, as you have said in post #67 above, it would be hard to isolate whether the improvements are due to the Mutec itself or the use of the AES output. The other possibility is that, since AES is synchronous and USB is asynchronous, the Mutec clock is better than the Devialet's internal clock. That you did not hear a difference with the Intona could mean, hypothetically, that the Mutec is doing as good a job as the Intona wrt galvanic isolation. From that perspective, at least with the Mutec, the Intona would have no audible impact. Guess what we will never know is whether, in a pure USB system (USB input/USB output), the Intona is as good as the Mutec (assuming that the Mutec was able to output via USB in the first place). Das Video mit den aktuellen MUTEC-News kommt dann Ende der kommenden Woche. So news at the end of this week or the end of next (not entirely clear to me, "the end of coming week", but this was posted on sunday morning). RE: Mutec MC-3+ USB - Antoine - 10-May-2016 Now these types of messages make me happy! http://www.computeraudiophile.com/f6-dac-digital-analog-conversion/mutec-mc-3-a-17300/index27.html#post541229 Quote:Hi there, RE: Mutec MC-3+ USB - baddog - 12-May-2016 I am very interested in this device. Very interested in how it sounds when paired with a microRendu. Question, will this automatically switch between PCM and DSD playback or do you have to make a change on the device? From what I read I thought this capability was due in a forthcoming update. Thanks. Mutec MC-3+ USB - nicoludio - 12-May-2016 To clarify concerns posted earlier that the Mutec requires special drivers even for Mac OS/Linux installations, with the consent of Mutec CEO, Christian Peters, here's his response: === the MC-3+US requires only for Windows special drivers supplied on our website. When interconnecting it to MAC or Linux based computers, the MC-3+USB should work with them at once without the use of any driver. I cannot see a reason why your application should not work, presupposing the Melco keeps the Linux guidelines. === Hope that helps. Yes, it's confirmed to be in the next firmware update, probably somewhere in June. It's in the video I talked about above, but it's in German: http://youtu.be/_-2_a2C2zFw I'll pair my mR (should arrive today) with the Mutec however I'm also waiting for my Paul Hynes SR7EHD-MR4 PSU (3-4weeks) that'll power it and probably my Mutec too (and my DSpeaker Anti-Mode DC 2.0). So will only start out with a very cheap LPSU on the mR. RE: Mutec MC-3+ USB - Confused - 12-May-2016 (10-May-2016, 18:07)Antoine Wrote: Now these types of messages make me happy! So this is a firmware update for the current MC-3+USB, plus an upgraded / new model MC-3+USB planned for September release? Am I reading this right? So for patient types thinking of getting a MC-3+USB, it might just be worth a 4 to 5 months wait for the new model? RE: Mutec MC-3+ USB - Antoine - 12-May-2016 No, no new MC3+ USB, the new product will be an optional 10MHz rubidium master clock. (which is a seperate device) |
