Phantom Home Cinema - garfy117 - 30-Apr-2016

Hi, I realise this has been discussed before, but I couldn't see anything addressing this specific query.

Would it be possible to use the Phantoms as fronts in a 5.1 setup by connecting an analogue/digital converter to the preouts of an avreceiver (using something like thisĀ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ex-Pro%C2%AE-Analogue-Digital-Converter-TOSlink/dp/B009K55TJI )
?

If so, once I run the AV calibration, would that automatically adjust levels and delays to get rid of the lipsync issues?

Grateful for any thoughts.

In theory it would work. It had been discussed before but I don't think anyone has tried it. Kind of expensive experiment, especially if it for some weird reason doesn't work.

In theory this should work but due to the latency involved with the Phantoms you may find things like auto calibration have issues, particularly room correction technologies like Audyssey. You may have to resort to manual level calibrations with a handheld meter, and not having room correction.
