canyelles, sorry overlooked your link re crossover cables. not sure whether the aq cinnamon is a patch or crossover cable. will have a look at the connectors when coming home.

It is almost certainly a patch cable. I think you need to either buy a crossover cable or connect via a switch or router.

Sorry but I am not really a network expert.

how to distingiush between the 2 types of cables? connectors look the same.

RE: AIR 3 Beta for Mac - Duomike - 21-May-2016

just spoke to my friend who is familiar with networks. he said crossover cables are used in the early days of computers and are uncommon these days. he will come over tomorrow and will send a ping from my mac to the dev and will analize the results.who would have thought that this thing is so complicated. are all of you guys work in the it or network industry to get this thing working?

No, we simply use a wireless router to take care of all the 'difficult' stuff. Hee Hee

According to this thread your current cable should be ok.

Are you really saying your Mac Mini does not have any network connection WiFi or wired to any network in your home?

If so, you need to disable DHCP and assign a fixed IP adress to the Devialet and Mac if you don't have any router functioning as a DHCP server in your home. E.g. 192.168.1.10 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0 for your Mac and 192.168.1.20 with the same subnet mask for your Devialet.

thats good news re the cable. I was thinking of getting the aq diamond lan cable if I get AIR to work which is costly. acc to baddog and the dev webpage dev can be directly connected by lan without any router inbetween.
probably easier with a router inbetween but these things are powered by cheap smps which inject a lot of noise. simple is not always the best solution for sq, hk.

one thing is coming to my mind, my computer is normaly not connected to the internet. could this be the cause of the problem?

No, or better said it shouldn't matter. See my earlier post or follow Rufus' excellent post in the topic you just read and Canyelles linked to.

1. Can you access Configurator without internet access?
2. Did you save the Configurator file to the SD card?
