That really speeds up the process of settling in the new power cord before I compare with the old. No offence taken. I refill the water cooker with cold water about ten times and let it cook till it boils. I am not taking this serious enough myself to have an exact amount of times I use the water cooker. It is just because I am too impatient to wait until I get a similar effect by just plugging the pow cord in the device I bought it for. RE: Expert Pro sound quality - deviousalet - 21-Oct-2016 The AudioQuest X-Series power cords are 15-gauge and their best is 13-gauge, while the Shunyata base model Venom3 is thicker than the best AudioQuest at 12-gauge, the Shunyata Z-PC10 made for the Devialet is 10-gauge, and the flagship Sigma HC is 6-gauge. So Devialet is including a better power cable than they used to while still leaving plenty of room for upgrades. I'm sure the AudioQuest makes a lovely sound boiling eggs though. Of course the trouble with the sound of boiling eggs is that some like a "soft" sound whilst others like a "hard" sound - personally I think that the sound is "not all that it is cracked up to be" . The absolute optimum being halfway between the two of course. But seriously, if you really want to get the mains cable burned in quickly and effectively, wouldn't it be better to put it in the boiler itself for a good few hours and give it a darn good cooking.... With the flimsy plugs in Australia and the US I don't think the gauge is going to make much if a difference. Unless you count the plug falling out of the wall because the cable is too heavy 'a huge change in sound quality' RE: Expert Pro sound quality - boba2013 - 23-Oct-2016 I wonder why if you upgrade any of the Expert systems, you get between 10 to 40 watts increase and for the 800, boost of 200 watts but the 250 does not get any watt boosts??? I wonder why it is the lonely duck? Can someone help me understand this slight on the wonderful Le250? cheers Bob RE: Expert Pro sound quality - Pim - 23-Oct-2016 (23-Oct-2016, 03:57)boba2013 Wrote: I wonder why if you upgrade any of the Expert systems, you get between 10 to 40 watts increase and for the 800, boost of 200 watts but the 250 does not get any watt boosts??? Thanks Pim, (and Herman)! I wonder if that is the only difference besides the beautiful 250 case? If upgrading, those that have, did you consider upgrading from the D250 to say, the 440Pro or 1000Pro and were there any financial incentives one should consider? Thanks again. I've also asked Devialet support that very question. Herman seemed very knowledgeable (possibly from Devialet?) but it would be great to get the official line, not least on why if 40V was a limiting factor they didn't increase it for the Pro so it could take full advantage of its new copper base. My best guess is that they are really at the maximum of what they can put into the casework as it is. There's only so much you can do in such a little case and it's quite unbelievable what they have achieved so far. No idea where they plan to put that streamer board they're working on. It must be tiny. |
