How many of you are using the Devialet Expert as a streamer/dac/pre-amp with other gear than Dev? What are your impressions? I'm thinking of putting mine with two mono blocks from McIntosh.

Cheers

I suppose there has to be a reason to take an extremely tightly integrated system like a Devialet Pro and front end it to another supplier’s gear, but it eludes me for the moment. When I attended the Oxford Audio session a couple of weeks ago, Matthieu pointed out that the aim of Devialet is to take the source signal and reproduce it as faithfully as possible to the original recording for better or worse with a minimal path liable to cause electronic distortion or interference.

You will certainly get colouration if you carry out your own experiment and you may achieve a result more pleasing to your own ears but will it be truly ‘better’ or perhaps you are simply tired of Devialet’s own ‘sound’.
