This is something I'm thinking about currently. Sorry for a late reply but here it is The panels behind the speakers are homemade BAD-panels. The function is described at link below: http://www.silentsource.com/PDF/badpanel.pdf It´s a combined absorber/diffuser. The panels does an excellent jobb at mid/higher frequencies (not to effective on bass I´m afraid since they are not that thick, 5-6 cm). I had a big problem with reflections in my room before, and those panels are making quite a difference. I´ve tried to make those as discrete as possible, and also portable. The build is quite easy but the holes (I think there are about 1000 holes/panel) was quite a pain to drill I´ve built these with instructions from a Swedish site, but found an english site that seems to be equivalent: https://www.gearslutz.com/board/bass-traps-acoustic-panels-foam-etc/459885-rpg-bad-panel-detailed-plans.html /Johan RE: Johans system - Atomjohan - 14-Feb-2015 (13-Feb-2015, 18:34)f1eng Wrote: What a gorgeous room! This is something I'm thinking about currently. Here is the swedish link: http://www.faktiskt.se/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?p=320715 In this thread there´s a list of the materials needed. I bought the materials at a local hardware store (Byggmax). The build is quite easy. The most time consuming bit is the drilling of the holes. I made 4 panels so I drilled through 4 plywood panels at the same time, saving me some work. It is critical with a good drill though. I also made a panel (with Marimekko fabric) to hang on the wall with LED-light (see attached link). It´s hard to see the effect, standing on the floor. But it really gave a nice effect hanging on the wall especially in the evenings. To bad, I haven´t got the space for it anymore. https://www.dropbox.com/sc/6102secf3zp5jf4/AADbVuElqqnVGLuZ6RQxRSY9a RE: Johans system - Mikeeo - 15-Feb-2015 (15-Feb-2015, 09:50)Atomjohan Wrote:Hi Johan and many thanks for the info!(14-Feb-2015, 09:46)Mikeeo Wrote:Hi Mike!(14-Feb-2015, 08:49)Atomjohan Wrote:(12-Feb-2015, 18:31)Mikeeo Wrote:Hi!(10-Feb-2015, 22:54)Confused Wrote: Could you say a few words about the bass traps? Tack/Mike RE: Johans system - Atomjohan - 07-Feb-2016 A few changes, system now consists of: Raidho X-1 Velodyne DD10+ Devialet 400 Squeezebox Touch (Bolder Cable Digital modd) Booster linear power supply to Touch Tellurium ultra black speaker cables Audioprana RCA-XLR Master slave link Audioquest Eagle eye From Touch to Devialet Lessloss DFPC Reference power cables Biggest change is of course the speakers. Even though I first was very satisfied with the Diablos, in the end they where not for me I guess. So far very happy with the Raidhos. For my taste, the Raidho/Devialet is a great match! The X-1 plays with a great soundstage but do (by the laws of physics) lacs some punch in the bass, even though they actually play pretty deep for such a small speaker. At first I did not have any plains of using a subwoofer but as I got the chance for a great deal on a DD10+ I thought why not give it a go, now I am addicted to it! The DD10+ has an auto calibrate feature which works just fine for me, surely there is some to be gained by a manual setup but I´m very happy as it is. The subwoofer just blends in with the X-1. Sometimes I get to wonder if it´s not on but as soon as I power it off, the difference is significant. The Devialet really is great for this as you can both use a high- and lowpass filter for your speakers/sub and even use these with SAM activated. My ordinary streamer is a Squeezebox Touch, but I have been trying Roon now on trial period. Roon is installed on a Mac mini and it feeds the Devialet with a Totaldac D1 USB cable. I must say that Roon really is a great software, I use an Ipad for remote and it works flawless. The integration with Tidal is top notch. I think Roon will replace my trusty SB Touch which has served me well for many years. RE: Johans system - deviousalet - 07-Feb-2016 Excellent. Time to update your sig. Did you try the AQ Volcano and Tellurium ultra black speaker cables on the same speakers, and if so what did you find? RE: Johans system - Pim - 07-Feb-2016 Hi Johan, I see you've got the X1's set up wider and with more toe in than you had the Diablos. Can you please tell us what the reason for that was? Johans system - Elztalbiker - 07-Feb-2016 They have to cross in front from the hearing position for best soundstage. Sent by iPad |
