Hi there,
I've found some great prices for some Devialet Phantom Classic 1200w speakers.
Before purchasing, I was wondering whether they are able to do Direct Optical Mode?
If they are, would it have the 5ms latency that's on the current models in this modem or would have a higher latency like how the Phantom Reactor / Phantom II models are locked at 60ms no matter whether it's set to Direct Optical Mode or Line-in mode.

Congratulations! Optical direct mode works like it should with approximately 5ms latency.

Are the speakers in question at DOS1 or DOS2?
If DOS1, it may be difficult to set Direct Optical mode because the required app is no longer supported.
If DOS2, then as ragwo has stated, you are good to go.

They both will be brand-new in box I think, so probably DOS1
can both speakers be upgraded to DOS2 yourselves or would I need to contact Devialet support?

You should be able to upgrade the speakers yourself in the Devialet app.

'new' Phantom "i" circa mid 2020 had DOS2 out of the box for me.
