How about:

WHO Trio "Less Is More"
Melanie De Biasio "No Deal"
Agnes Obel "Aventine"
Możdżer Danielsson Fresco "Between Us And The Light"
Stephen Drury "In A Landscape: Piano Music of John Cage"
Mark Hollis (eponymous solo album)

I hope you find something there to enjoy!

Ian, that's really weird, I was going to post the first three on your list - scary ? I don't know the other three...

That is odd! I think all of the above have been posted on the "what are you listening to..." thread at some point; in fact that's how I discovered a couple of them.

The other three are all worth a listen. I'd never heard of Możdżer Danielsson Fresco (piano trio) until a Polish friend gave me a copy of the CD, which I like very much. The John Cage is a bit more mixed in style, but the "main" piece is simply gorgeous -- surprisingly romantic. And Mark Hollis: I'm a big fan of Talk Talk and although this solo album is a bit different, it's just the job if you're in the mood for something contemplative.

Any Cassandra Wilson album, especially New Moon Daughter

Well, the name says it all, Frank Sinatra, In the wee small hours..., or something like that

If you are going to listen to The Who without worrying about your neighbours, then you can listen to Marillion, an album called Brave. Tamer but not necessarily quieter...

Kenny Burrell, Blue

Don't know, there really are many options. Hope these help!

Cheers!
