Connection of SACD player to D200
#1
I got an Oppo 103d for a long weekend test session from my hifi dealer. I asked for it as I would like to make best use of my collection of SACDs, BluerRay pure audio discs and DVD audios discs. Having set-up the system at home, I connected it with reference stereo audio RCA cables from inakustik (NF-202 RCA) as well as with an inakustik premium opto toslink to my D200.
Diving deeper into the set-up specs, it turned out that DSD is transported either via HDMI or analogue only. so, it seems the only way for me to listen to my DSD on SACDs is via the analogue output.
If I understand correctly, the digital DSD signal is to be converted twice going that way, first in the DAC of the Oppo and second time in my Devialet.
Although my listening sessions are amazing, with a wide soundstage and crystal clear sound, I am wondering if there is any better possibility to connect an SACD player such as the Oppo 103d to the D200?

An alternate choice is to use the output from the 103 via HDMI into a de-embedder and then from the de-embedder to the 200 via digital coax. Native higher resolution pcm files (24/96, 24/192) transfer intact as verified by the 200's display but SACD & DVD-A files transfer at the 24/88.2 rate:

I have one, purchased a Kanex to simplify my cable set-up, and in my system I don't find any degradation to SACD playback versus when I used the analog outputs on my Opp0 95 into my 200 but as always YMMV....

Dear Ron, thank you very much for sharing your experience and the link. I will certainly have a look at that as it sounds promising.
