Dialog overheating and deforming the casing?
#21
I believe you'll never get perfectly even joints. The soap cup material that Dialog is wrapped in is too flimsy. Bad design choice.

So I have had mine for a day and it runs way hot. I do not see this as a good thing for a long period of time. I assume since so many have noted hot Dialogs then this must be normal.

I've had mine for a bit over a year. I have never had it hot. I would say at most, it is somewhat warm. But even then, the casing is a bit deformed so I'm not sure if it is the heat. I've touched it many times but never once thought it was even very warm. Not sure why the variance between units.

I've had my system since summer 2015, Dialog has not failed, but runs hot, metal parts will burn, and there is some casing deformation. Opened a trouble ticket many moons ago requesting the design/manufacturing specs for ambient temperature operating range and thermal management design limits and the design target for Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF)... no response. I keep the Dialog away from other heat sources, but have not deployed a fan or other "cooling" strategies.

Have noted thermal management concerns about other Devialet products in the mainstream Devialet chats.....

I believe in the not too distant future there will be a "case hardened" robust feature rich Dialog upgrade for surround applications.... hope I'm not disappointed.

You mean the metal fins right?  Never touched them so I was a bit worried and touched it tentatively.  Hmm....about the same as the rubber parts.  Very comfortable - more than usual as it is currently in a room that is 60 degrees farenheit.   I would say right now it is lightly warm.   This is a bit confusing to me.

I wonder if there are others who just have units that are not hot.

My Dialog is about 55 degrees Celsius on the heat sinks, not very pleasant touch.
