Singxer
#1
Anyway, another forum member has advised me regarding good reports re Singxer products, allegedly better than Mutecs,  see below:

http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/...05919.html

Also a USB to S/PDIF version getting rave reviews:

Mutec beater for $179.99?? - Although I do think running AES is the best option for a Devialet

Does anyone know about this kit?  Anyone tried with a Devialet?
1000 Pro - KEF Blade - iFi Zen Stream - Mutec REF10 - MC3+USB - Pro-Ject Signature 12

As you say I think a Mutec with AES output to Devialet is a better option, I am really close to buying a Mutec and run it between my microRendu and D400. Cabledyne USB and AES cables will connect them together.
Speakers:TAD CE-1. Amplifier: TAD M2500mk2. Digital: TAD DA1000-TX, Innuos Statement Next-gen, Innuos PhoenixNET.

Miscellaneous: Qobuz Studio, Ansuz Mainz 8 D2, Ansuz Darkz DTC, Tubulus Argentus ethernet cable, Tubulus Concentus USB cable, Tubulus Argentus V2 XLR cable, Tubulus Argentus V3 + V3 bass, iFi Nova powercables.

Second system
Qobuz Studio -> Devialet Silver Phantom, Devialet Tree

Maybe my post was not as clear as it could have been, this one does have AES output......

Totally missed that to, will check in to that. But I was thinking of geting the Mutec from Thomann and they have 30 day trial period.

The Singxer products are heavily discussed in a (long) topic on head-fi.org. This one: http://www.head-fi.org/t/803111/xmos-xu2...as-arrived It's the same thread I got part of my inspiration from to perhaps try a Focusrite Rednet device for Dante which I discussed in my system topic.

The 'being better part' is a bit more nuanced. The topic starter (much "crazier" than I am in trying stuff Wink) has tried out the Mutec MC-3+ USB and has confirmed that the Mutec standalone is better than the Singxer F-1 (which is a DIY module for USB to S/PDIF conversion using the new XMOS chipset). He did prefer what he calls his "uber USB chain" over the Mutec.

His "uber chain" is rather long containing a lot of USB gizmo's:

PC>PPA V2 USB card (TeraDak X1 - Nichicon HW caps)>Forza Twin Copper Split USB cable>iPurifier2>Startech LEX>BJC CAT6 UTP 550Mhz>Startech REX (with one Jitterbug - Breeze 24VDC LPS+DC iPurifer)>LH Labs 2G split USB cable (data only leg)>W4S Recovery(TeraDak LPS DC-30W+Cerious Graphene PC+ DC iPurifier)>Curious 200mm USB Link>F-1>AS Statement Silver SPDIF>APL DAC

PC: PC:iCore7 4790 - 12GB Ram - WIN10. El Fidelity SATA and CPU fan filter, PPA V2 PCIe USb card, Seasonic fanless high PSRR PS, etc...Software Foobar 2000V1.2.9 Dither on buffer 1000ms, JPlay 6.2 UltraStream (KS sourced), SoX upsampler to 192k alaising yes, quality Very High, Passband 95%, Phase Response 50% Linear.  All Redbook burned from CD using EAC Secure Mode, Test and Copy Uncompressed, Accurip ISO verified, WAV files.

He's all into Dante though right now using his Rednet 3 with Mutec MC-3+ USB as a S/PDIF re-clocker.

He also keeps a 'score list' (remember one guy, one system, one opinion):

I love reading what this guy (rb2013) and those surrounding him on head-fi write but he himself can at times be quite dismissive of stuff he hasn't tried yet, largely based on preconceptions. In the act he can spread misinformation as well. For example calling the microRendu a uPnP renderer while it is so much more.

Yes, rb2013's adventures are quite informative, especially his willingness to explore the frontiers. Never heard of Singxer or Rednet till his posts.

Interestingly, I have communicated with another Mutec MC3+ USB owner on another forum.

He has modified the Mutec to accept an LPS and says that "As a USB to SPDIF convertor the F1 just delivers much more in every way compared to the [modified] Mutec ..."

I'm guessing that other Mutec owner is 'Sligolad'! Smile I've read a similar thing from his hand. The Mutec could still prove worthwile though in the next "hit product" the Focusrite Rednet series. Wink I would love these guys to test it with a microRendu though, it may be a great surprise for them.

I just wrote to Confused in response to a PM that things are going so fast, today's best may as well no longer be so tomorrow. So anyone 'investing' in this type of gear should be prepared for that. Smile
