Surround sound (How to)
#1
I have two Phantom II’s and have purchased a third. I am new to the Devialet community. In order to get surround sound from my speakers; do I need to buy a Dante enabled amp, buy a Devialet Expert Pro, Astra or can I simply pair the three speakers & then split them in the Devialet app?

I am currently using the stereo pair but once the third speaker arrives; I wanted to use it as a center channel (instead of a soundbar). Thank you for your insight. I appreciate your help.

Yes, you need a Dante processor and the cheapest is the Arvus H1-D, which the author of this thread is now using

However, this is not an easy exercise, and depending on your model, your Phantom II's may not have the low latency to run Dante. You will need to put in a lot of effort, time & money, to get it to work.

Thank you for the reply! I talked to a Devialet representative. This was his email:

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Devialet Customer Service and Support.
I'm Paul, I hope this email finds you well.

The Phantom I used for the Phantom Theater are the same as the sold on the regular market. We only add a Dante stick to them.

However, the regular Phantom II lacking some hardware components to be compatible with Dante, custom models are used to be integrated within the Phantom Theater system.

If you have any specific question regarding the Phantom Theater offer, I can get you in touch with the service dedicated to it.
Let me know if you'd be interested

Kindest regards,
Paul | Customer service & support Devialet

I will still look into the Arvus H1-D but I trust your warning. $3,300 on a hope & a prayer is cheaper than $15-$20k on a custom Devialet theater.

You can manage a lot cheaper with a surround preamp, A/D converters and optical direct mode. Please see my thread for instructions.
