Ok here's the problem. First off this is with a 200 and an Auralic Aries. I wanted to compare a very good coax spdif (RCA) digital cable to my very good USB cable. I've been using the digital 1 coax input for ages with a Sonos, zero issues. I've been using the USB input for ages with the Aries, zero issues. I've also used the AES/EBU on the 200 and with the Aries zero issues. 

So I hooked up the coax out of the Aries to digital 1 on the 200, and it plays 16/44 fine but total silence with Hi-Res files. The Aries shows it playing the files.. WTF!  

Any ideas?? Switch back to USB no problems.. It's as if the Digital 1 input can't decode hires??

Your hi-res files are 24bit? If so, a mystery, the SPDIF input should work without issue. If the files are being output as DSD, then this will result in silence.

Yup 24/96 and 24/192  Yes it's a mystery.. I put a call in to Audio Plus Services.. see if they have any ideas.. 

So the plot thickens.. I can play 24/96 files but not 24/192 it sort of stutters if it plays at all.

And I sent a email to Devialet..It's not the end of the world but I'd like to understand why coax won't do 24/192

coax should play 24/192. Optical/toslink no.

Yes I know that.

Check your configurator and see if you accept 24/192 for digital input

There is no where in the configurator that allows that kind of choice. The Spdif inputs are either on or off.
