Does anyone know if it's possible to set the sensitivity of the volume knob of the remote?
I'd like it to be a bit less sensitive so I can set the volume more precise.
Funny you should ask that.
One of the amps I was thinking of before I saw the light was the Musical Fidelity AMS35i. It has the least sensitive volume control I've ever used. It was impossible to get the volume anywhere near the right level: either far too loud or far too quiet.
I don't think you can set the steps on the remote, but someone may know better.
If I want to be really precise, I use the volume control on the iPad app. I find it's pretty easy to move by 0.5dB steps.
Cheers
Matt
I asked Devialet.

I changed the output of the devialet with the wizard. My speakers are fairly sensitive, I find suppressing the output gives the speakers more control - may be that's due to I am really increasing the power by less than 0.5db.

Do you mean how many Watts are put out? I guess that could work, but I'd like to maximize the Wattage output.

The remote for the D-Premier/250 has better sensitivity. I believe it takes two full turns to go from 0dB to -80. I do not know if it is possible to change the new remote to behave like the old one. Did you get a response from Devialet?
Here's a D250 remote tip. You can turn the volume on the remote all the way down, two full turns, and then keep turning until the Devialet Logo is level, then one full turn up takes you to a low listening volume, you can then roughly calibrate what the volume is on the display (-6dB, +1dB or whatever) to the angle of the Devialet logo. With the D250 this actually works with remarkable accuracy.

I did indeed get a response from Devialet. Sorry for not sharing this sooner.

"I am afraid we can not modify the encoding of the volume wheel so easily.

Maybe a quick workd about the volume steps we have chosen. The volume on the screen corresponds to an adjustment gain on the preamp and it definitely needs a wide adjustement range to properly address the following cases:
- Music recorded at a very low level on low efficiency speakers: High need of gain, thus +30dB
- Music recorded at a very high level on high efficiency speakers: Low need of gain, thus -97.5dB
- For all intermediate cases: a wide range is always good

The 0.5dB increment seems to be a good compromise."
Hi,

For someone that couldn't care less about all this streaming, AIR etc as I have my Unitiserve 'streaming' int the Devialet I have one question?

If I would like to use the Dev App and control everything on my IPad. What do I need? Install AIR, connect ethernet cable to my router or both or how to do this? I will not use any for streaming just want to control the system on IPad.

Any kind soul to instruct an old imbecill /Mike

Hi Mikeeo,

as you're using the Unitiserve I assume that you're already using the Naim n-Serve App on your iPad or equivalent and that you have a wireless router?

You also need to install the Devialet Remote App on your iPad. Go to the App Store and search on 'Devialet'. Select 'Devialet Remote' and download the App onto your iPad. Then you will be able to control the volume and select sources etc.

You will need to switch between the N-Serve App and the Devialet App depending on what function you want to perform.

You don't need to install AIR on your iPad and your iPad will continue to connect wirelessly to your router .

Regards,

Philip
