Full Version: D-Premier has stopped working with PS Audio Premier

Hi all.

I have a D-Premier I have been happily using with a PS Audio Premier AC regenerator, since 2012.  As of last week the D-Premier will not power up when connected to the PS Audio, but only when connected directly to the wall socket.  All of my other components are still connected to the PS Audio and are working fine.

I did 'upgrade' to version 8.0 of the Devialet firmware last week (what a mistake....) but the two devices did not stop cooperating at that moment, so I am reluctant to blame the firmware for this.

Does anyone have any ideas, suggestions or comments about using D-Premier (and/or other Expert models) with PS Audio regenerators that might help me?  Many thanks.
Ouch, that's weird! No issues so far with my 250 running 8.0 connected to a PS Audio P3.

The PPP has never been known for it's reliability but of course the D-Premier could be doing something the PPP doesn't like. Is the D-Premier the biggest power user connected to the PPP? if so what happens when you connect an other relative big power user to the PPP?

I thought there weren't many (if any changes at all) made for the D-Premier but did you try a 'downgrade' to 7.1.1 (I'd try that before 7.1.3 as I believe that version also had some power usage optimizations)?

Did you try 8.0 with DPM off if you can make that setting for the D-P? (insert the card with the DPM config on the card into the D-P on a regular wall socket first and then back to the PPP).
Hi Antoine. Devialet is the biggest power user on the PPP, all other devices are receivers, media players etc. The D-Premier is unnaffected by connecting other devices to the Premier, since it simply will not start unless connected direct to wall. It will not start if it is the only device on the PS Audio either. I've also tried switching mains cables, but the problem remains attributable to the PS Audio, or at least the D-Premier in conjunction with it.

There have been major problems with the configurator and D-Premier in the last few weeks, and I don't think it is possible for me to go back in firmware versions (from what Devialet are saying) and then get it working with a currently generated config file. Basically what I am saying it is very tricky to keep the D-Premier operational at the moment with Devialets extremely poor operating environment - the combination of firmware 8.0, their configurator and the D-Premier is not a happy marriage just now - and whilst it is (mostly) working I can't risk breaking it again. I spent about 3 days last week trying things out, for Devialet support, when they acknowldge there is a problem themselves.

It is very probably, as you suggest, something to do with power usage optimisation or DPM - I can't think what else it might be. Many thanks for these suggestions - DPM is a good idea & I will try it today.
OK I understand and I guess you didn't save the 'old' 7.1.x config file somewhere before replacing it.

If possible I would really try a big power user, something that uses around 600-700W, perhaps a hair dryer or something. Perhaps the issue only shows with devices that have a higher power usage, somehow pushing a maybe "dying" PPP over the edge.

Good luck!
