Brilliant, thanks Nathan!  Smile

uli the creator of acourate is helping me upgrade my software atm so that i can properly do the time delay stuff so i should actually be able give some real answers.

For a good USB microphone have a look at the miniDSP umik-1. i do all my measuring with it and it comes highly recommended and pretty cheap.

I agree with you but if Devialet will measure this or calculate they are probably going to exactly implement the delay that acours between the master and the slave in the firmware and I doubt anyone can really listen to the diffrenses a couple of microseconds (I mean the diffrenses between say 290us to 300us) so to get the most accurate measurment it will be without the speakercables and speakers directly at the output of the amps with the crystalcable that they supplied with the amp that is my opinion. Setting up the mic so exactly that you dont get any errors in the delay measurment is in my opinion impossible.

But it is also impossible for Devialet to measure exactly.

And as you observed, there are differences in the acoustics of rooms.

I dont think the will use a mic to measure this the do it at the output thus eliminating influanse of speakercables and speakers and that is to me the correct way to do it. Signal in and then time it when the signal is at the output of each amp. Maybe I am wrong but this is my opinion.

This will be much appreciated.

I got my miniDSP UMIK-1 USB icrophone, and am all set for the measurements.

It will also be great if we can get Devialet to approve the procedure, to ensure that we will not cause damage to our systems.
ive got all the necessary guides and a few other things to sort this out, i just want time to actually try the guide out on my gear first before i go telling everyone how easy it is.
sorry this is taking so long. my audio pc wasnt working.. (powered up and ran fine but no audio out) so i decided id upgrade it to windows 10 and start all over.. this was yesterday and 24 hours later i still dont have windows 10 installed on the pc upgrading is a damn pain in the ass!!!!
Hi,

Did the delay thing but I am not sure I have better coherence between channels (ears only and no mic). My setting to start with is 335 micro secs after reading other posts.
I'll probably try some longer delay times.

Anyone else and what delay setting did you use.

/Mike
I just finished speaking with Devialet support in New York. He assures me that the two units on the 400/800 are already absolutely synced. Has anyone actually measured a delay at the listening chair or the outputs of the master vs companion?

On output should be as good as possible I guess!

Interesting about the "absolutely synced". I must say I find it odd why this is not communicated to the mono owners when buying a companion.
And what about Octaviars dialogue with Devialet indicating that the delay function is something mono users should play with (or did I read his posts wrong). I guess different home settings may benefit from adjusting delay. I will for fun try 20000 micro secs and see what the result will be.

I bet Devialet were surprised to be asked about it - I'd naturally assumed that the outputs from master and companion would be in sync. Why shouldn't they be?
