Not a great deal said about Sound Quality but there is supposedly more to come. Smile

***UPDATE

I should be getting a decent USB cable tomorrow with a few other bits and pieces Wink

Will therefore report back once I've had a chance to test the USB output.

GuillaumeB, could you confirm if Linn Kazoo works with your Aries or not?

Thanks Smile

I've already checked USB cables: AQ Diamond, JCat, Tellurium Q Black Diamond and at my taste Tellurium is the winner. I wait for Synergistic Research to finally make decision. Aries works best with Devialet through USB or my Coax is worse than tested USB cables ( I have any AES/EBU experience ).
Aries is superior to Linn Sneaky, which I used as a transport, but the application is a painfull for me as a user of Songbook.
Nevertheless I believe Auralic is working hardly to improve Lightning DS, last two/three weeks there was three upgrades of Aries software and two of LDS application.

Hello Tatomek thanks for this... and of course welcome to Devialet Chat! Smile

We will report back with our findings! By the way we are using a top of the range Entreq USB cable, complete with earth drain system (ground cable). Basically I want to give the Aries the best chance possible... Smile

Hello, I tested on the Aries the TotalDac USB FILTER, the Mapleshade USB cable and synergistic research core active SE.

On my system the TotalDac was sounding better than the others. But the Mapleshade and the SR did not have any burning time. It seems that SQ improved after burning and I need to make another test this weekend adding. An oyaide continental 5S which is said better than the references above.

So just an advise : pay attention to the burning time of your USB cable before test :-)

This week end we would test the Aries on different DAC (TotalDac d1dual, fostex) with and without the reclocker of the TotalDac D1 server. It will be compare in USB to the TotalDac server and a SOtM SMS 100.

Hi Patatorz,

Sounds like you will be having some very interesting tests! The USB cable I am receiving is a fully run-in demo cable, I have just checked this. I'll let it run for a few hours before the test anyway.

Cheers

Guillaume
Had a listen to the Aries via USB cable this am. First impressions are that the sound seems slightly better than AES/EBU... will be interesting to see what Rufus thinks when he comes on Saturday.

Going to keep this running on repeat until Saturday (it's been on all week but I only got the USB cable last night).
