Hi all,
My two new phantom silvers and dialogue arrived yesterday and I am having major problems trying to set them up. If anyone can help I would be most grateful. The problem seems to be that Dialogue is not being recognised by the Spark app on my ipad. It just says ensure dialogue is plugged in and connected to the router or ethernet. I am using an ethernet data connection point for the Dialogue. The white light is solid and resetting this does nothing. The phantoms boot up correctly but I am guessing that because the Dialogue is not being recognised I am not even at the stage where the dialogue starts talking/connecting to the phantoms

Dialogue is connected to ethernet data port and plugged in
Spark app does not pick it up apparently
If I go to my available networks I can see that there is a Dialogue network so the Dialogue is throwing out a wifi signal
The ipad and Spark is connected to my home wifi network over wifi

Any ideas ??

This is driving me crazy

Thanks
Derrick
Sure that Dialog and Ipad/Spark are on the same network ? Can you test with Spark on a PC/laptop (on the same network).

I had this problem and it was solved by moving the phantoms physically closer to the dialog unit as I had them each in different rooms in my home. Once they were closer together, it all worked fine.
Please try to connect Dialog to the router that is connected to the WAN. This is the device that runs NAT and DHCP.

It will not work if you connect it to any router (Apple airport etc) that is behind your iSP's router.

What router are you using ?
I found that Dialog is not working if I run an airport extreme at the same time. I have been trying to get an airport run bridged for my second floor in my house and it kills the Dialog. Also the distance from speaker to Dialog is sensitive.
Hi,
Thanks all for the replies. I did make some progress by disconnecting all of my ethernet data connections from my BT router and plugging the Dialogue directly in there and moving the speakers to downstairs right near where the router is. However, when I then moved them upstairs to the lounge to do the room set up I lost the connections and am back to square one. This is so annoying. My house is a townhouse and pretty small so can't believe the Dialogue downstairs can't see the phantoms upstairs in my lounge. And I have also tried the Dialogue back in the ethernet port in the lounge (with of course the ethernet connections all back in to the router) and still nothing.

Does the dialogue have to go directly in to the BT router - don;t see why it cant go straigh in to a data port ?

I very much doubt Dialog will be able to see your speaker on a different floor, I have problems with speakers on the same floor sometimes... must be a very weak signal and super sensitive to other routers...
I might be mistaken but I read that the Dialog and Phantoms uses powerline networking and Wifi in combination to deliver data. Are you sure your Dialog and Phantom are on the same power network?
So Devialet called me up this morning following me emailing them for help over the weekend. They were great and we got it sorted. I connected the Dialogue to an Ethernet port in the lounge and placed the phantoms in the lounge too. The difference this time was I ran through the set up using Spark on my Mac desktop and not my iPhone. Reason Devialet suspect that the problem was caused by my iPhone Spark running in wifi and my Mac being on an Ethernet port would work better with the Dialogue also on an Ethernet port. It seems to have worked and both are connected and working now so very happy. Also the iPhone Spark App now does control the Phantoms too even though the phone is on wifi. It seems that for the setup both dialogue and the spark app had to both be on Ethernet connections
I am not a big techie so am not sure if this is good luck or had made a difference but glad it is all working now and very happy. Haven't connected my Toslink cable to the TV yet ! One step at a time

Thanks for the helpful posts
