Regular readers will know I have had white noise using a MacBook and Expert 800 and Magico Q1 for 18 months or more.

I've been liaising with Devialet on this for those 18 months.

Latterly, Devialet thinks it established the fault (clocking misalignment between MacBook and Devialet) but with no solution.

This week, Guillaume directed me to someone in the Chat with a possible solution; who simply told me to get music playing on AIR wifi then disconnect the internet.

Tested Tuesday; Wednesday overnight on 16/44.1; and Friday through the day and overnight (6 hours/6 hours/9 hours) on hi-res.

No white noise!

Looks very promising. Never had such sustained solution with such a cause-and-effect correlation.

May be other influencing factors which have changed (e.g. router, Mac release, firmware release) so this is by no means claimed to be universal (or even permanent, but the latter is hopeful).
Ian, that does sound promising -- although if that's what it takes it seems more a case of "white noise worked-around" than "solved". Hopefully this will be a useful data point for Devialet if they are continuing to investigate a solution.
Er, how exactly do you "disconnect the internet"?
I just unplug the RJ45 from the DrayTek router!
Sorry, I am confused.

Doesn't that also disconnect the Mac mini and the devialet?

Also, it doesn't sound of much use if you are streaming Tidal, Spotify ...
It is exciting news but I don't understand how to do that. To use AIR WIFI but unplug the RJ45 from the router........Please tell us more how it can be implemented.
In my system, the ethernet cable RJ45 is plugged into my router which in turn communicates by WiFi (no ethernet wire) to my Macbook (leopard should be 10.7.x something) + external harddisk AND the D200.
?
My MacBook is never connected to internet by ethernet (but by wifi) - regardless I have white noise...

Hello, midi. So you use AIR by wifi  regardless you experience white noise because you think AIR sounds great in your system?

My internet feed is ADSL to my DrayTek Vigor 2860v-Plus modem/router. That feeds 5 items connected by ethernet with switchable wifi options on my MacBook, my iMac and my Devialet 800 (the other connections are my Dialog/Phantoms and my printer.)

I simply start my MacBook and my Devialet 800 playing wifi using AIR, and everything else is "on" too, then I pull out the ADSL feed to the DrayTek. White noise, which normally starts after as little as 40 minutes, has not started for the last 7 days.

I don't know the explanation, but it works.

Well at least so far, but 7 days is getting to be fairly encouraging at least.

I use the latest Yosemite but I still use the old configurations and firmware 7.1.3.

I'll give a try tomorrow. What DevialetAir version you use?
