Using a ethernet Vodka cabel ,havent compared with others

On the imac its only one Ethernet port, and thats taken by the NextGentel router ,so i use it from the Time Capsule and direct to the Devialet

Im happy so far,in my head it sounds better from the port in the Time Capsule than the main NextGentel router

This is how I run my system, direct Ethernet with AQ Vodka. I tried couple of other ethernet cables as well and the only ones came closer were high quality CAT7's. I will put my hands on a Diamond shortly. Will report back if I hear any improvement.

For my ears, the direct ethernet connection is the best. Takes 1 ethernet cable and a router out of the equation. I used to have Mac Airport Extreme in between, but direct is better.

Main difference using Vodka compared to a regular ethernet is increased focus and dynamics, easier flow.
I have a Supra cable CAT7 right now but I will probably try with Audioquest Vodka or Diamond later on.
I have a NEYTON Cat7.
I will try a Audioquest or some other high priced cable by opportunity, but I donĀ“t think this connection is very cable sensitive.
But I think the plug has to be good, and then you are back at high priced cables again. The normal ethernet cables have mostly shakily plugs.
About a year ago, I put in Audioquest Forest between NAS and router and router and streamer based on this review: www.audiostream.com/content/audioquest-ethernet-cables

I took the upgrade for granted and didn't do any serious listening tests, as I was focused on other aspects of my system at the time. I just replaced the Forest between NAS and router with Audioquest Cinnamon simply because I ran across a super sale while traveling. Unfortunately, they didn't have a longer run in stock for the remainder of my system, but I'll probably go ahead and purchase it eventually and do a serious comparison.

Some time ago I struggled trying to establish this connection between my MacPro and the Dev. It didn't work at this time as you must design this with a fixed IP. I had no time to play around at that time. Has anybody achieved this?
It is quite simple actually...

Just set a same subnet fixed ip on both Devialet's ethernet and your computers IP4.

They can look like this:
Devialet: (on the advanced settings of Ethernet input)
DHCP off
Fixed IP: 192.168.0.77
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

on pc, network card settings, IP4 :
DHCP off
IP: 192.168.0.33
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

this basically says there are two machines one no:77 and one no:33 on the same subnet so they dont have to ask a DHCP server for assigning addresses.

Next, connect with a regular ethernet cable (one end to devialet, the other to the PC) without any switches in between.

Hope this helps.

Thanks, Kunter!

This works in essentially the same way with a Mac. In the Mac's network settings, you need to configure DHCP manually and set the router IP address to the same address as the Devialet.

I don't hear any improvements in SQ. The benefit of direct connection via ethernet is that it stops any drop-outs due to network activity. The disadvantage is that it seems to introduce a long gap in the time it takes for commands from a mobile control point (JRemote on iPad in my case) to have an effect.
