Yes the dealer did take them in. This actually gives me a chance to praise them on here. HiFi Sounds in Stockton have helped me with this and they really did pull out all the stops for me. Had the SFs for 6 weeks at home, also when i wanted to hear the PMCs they went out of their way to get me a pair even though they are not a PMC dealer.

I am about 45 mile from the shop and they made a few trips to deliver the demo speakers too. An excellent customer experience all round.

Wow that's impressive service.

Yeah, amazing…. Wish I could find a dealer in London like that - when I first looked at the Facts I was told by one dealer I could have them for the weekend. Wink
Congrats on your choice Womaz!

You've definitely done your homework and decided based on the most important parameter: emotional connection and musical enjoyment. Well done!

Your journey has also been very enjoyable for me. Most of the times I would just check the forum to see if you had updated your thread! I guess the fact that the Olympicas where among your choices made it even more interesting for me.

Like any hand made traditional instrument their behaviour will greatly improve over time. Give them at least a good month of daily use and then start fine tuning their position. Which colour did you go for btw? Mines are the atypical graphite.

Let us know how the run in process goes pls. Oh, that dealer deserves a good bottle (or two) of wine! Wish I could find someone like that here in northern Italy! Rolleyes
I chose the black gloss as they go with my room more than the other two options.
Thank you to all who took an interest in the thread. rather flattered to know so many enjoyed it.

The dealer was excellent, not sure about the wine though as I imagine he made a very good margin on these.....I didnt ask for any discount as I thought it would be cheeky after the service i have had.

My new speaker journey actually started 18 months ago as I was quite happy with my Musical Fidelity M6 amp, but after a few visots on various forums and a lot of magazine reading I ended up going in another direction. Once I demoed the Devialet at home it was never going back. So i guess the speakers were always next on the agenda. Although I did have to get the Melco N1A so I had reliable music listening.

Delighted with the Olympicas. Out of the box they do sound a little different, and they do have a little brightness. I am assuming and hoping that this will improve as the hours are put on them.
I may consider another bass trap in my room in time, but for now my spending is done. The purchase of my 200 made me realise just how good music could sound, this prompted me to try and improve things further. I feel I have now got a system that I could never have dreamed of owning a few years ago and I am delighted.

Thanks for all the posts and help along the way.

Congrats Womaz!
Good work Womaz! Now time to stop worrying endlessly and have the simple pleasure of enjoying your chosen system.

I did hear the Olyimpica II's at a dealer event a while back, I must say I really enjoyed listening to them. There are always pros and cons, but in some respects I think they are the best in that price range.

Dare I post the next bit??? Ummm, here goes.

The above mentioned demo was with D400's, which were clearly driving them effortlessly.... So, one day, when 200 companions are selling second hand for bargain basement money, you have a most excellent upgrade to look forward to.

Ok, so I'm teasing a little, I advise you to ignore me, stick on some favourite tunes and enjoy the show!

This is already on my radar Smile I feel that I have reached my "end game " if you want to call it that as I tend to stick with my systems for a long time. This is my last in my eyes , but yes a second hand companion may be considered eventually. It would be mad not to surely Big Grin
Or should I be looking at some better speaker cable ? Smile Smile
Congrats on your new speakers, I have enjoyed your progress
now sit back and enjoy.
