I tried VLC for iOS and used it to copy 24/96 files across from my iMac with no issues. I tried both Wifi transfer and USB using iTunes and both methods worked well. Unfortunately, VLC stores the files in its own folders and My Music couldn't see them so this was largely a waste of time 
as I'm only interested in wireless streaming from the iPad.
I haven't tried other HR Music apps yet as I was more interested in getting A+ to work.
