Hi

Sorry if I have this in the wrong area of the forum, but was trying to find out what is the latest software that a D-Premier can run. I've tried looking on the internet, but there doesn't seem to be any info (that I can find).

About to buy two 2nd hand Black Matte D-Premier's for a great price (approx. $6.5k US for the pair).

Thanks in advance.

Cheers
John

The D Premiers run the same firmware as the other amps, so 9.something. That is a really good price for two, great investment!

In fact I believe you can use even 9.01. I upgraded my D-Premier to a 240, now 250 so I can not verify this unfortunately. A member on this forum, Rodney Gold, uses a D-Premier and would probably know. Also an email to Devialet support (or maybe a question on their Facebook site) will surely give you an answer.
You can use the latest FW.. all that happens with the d prem is that SAM isnt an option.. you still get the rest of the extra goodies
In all likelihood , if there are more potent DSP options in the future like Room Correction (unlikely), you might not be able to utilize them...
I had the option to UG my D prem.. for EU3000!!!.. there is no possible reason for me to do so..SAM is useless on my speakers anyway
Rodney, aren't the G1 now SAM ready, or do you mean that you didn't enjoy what SAM did to the G1?

I'm just curious. I'm guessing that with 4 subwoofers in addition to the G1s you care about bass so getting the G1s down from 28Hz to 14Hz as Devialet advertises would be important to you. The SB13 are rated to 20Hz so if the G1 went lower with SAM you could sell two of your four SB13 to pay for the upgrade to SAM. I preferred bass from two floorstanders rather than two subs in my room; but neither my room, my subs (SVS SB2000), nor my speakers are anywhere near as good as yours. Again, I'm just curious and wanting to learn from your experience not suggesting anything.

No problem..
I havent tried SAM on my G1's
G1's go down to about 16hz at -6 db in my room .. at thunderous levels , all by their lonesome.. without SAM...huge excursion 11" drivers ...2" or more
I also use DIRAC..true time and freq room correction .. effective way of fixing the bass..
I have heard a few sammed speakers , vivids and others
What bothered me on some , at the levels I listen at,  SAM was audible .. limiting clucking sounds.. sam was wound back to 15% with it then it was much less audiblee than at higher %'s .. SAM does have a good effect ,, even at 0 ..

The 4 subs are not really used to augment the bass.. what they do , with placement , inversion , level etc is smooth the whole room's bass .. a swarm of subs...they destructively drive nodes .. amazing the difference they make...

That's great that I can use the latest software.

I put in my offer on the pair of D-Premiers today and managed to get them for £4k  Big Grin

That's great I can use the latest software, and not really bothered about not getting SAM. My speakers (ML3 Reference) are a small brand from Queensland, so doubt they would ever get SAM'd and can't see them coming to Perth (Australia) so again not getting myself bothered about something I would never get.

I'm looking forward to integrating my Paradigm Sub1 with my main Speakers, and the fact Devialet allows full integration with the option of hi-pass & low-pass levels as well as 1st, 2nd , 3rd  or 4th order filtering.

As an aside, what is the watts the new software allows the Premiers to output, is it 240 single, and as a pair 500???

Cheers

Thanks, Rodney. You've got me wondering if I didn't try hard enough with the subs. I'll go read more. Cheers.
