Given the work Manoet and others have done to reduce temperatures for better sound quality I thought I should start a thread about the far easier method of connecting the 3.5mm trigger cable between master and slave units then enabling an input on the slave unit. This simple configuration tweak reduced temperatures of my D400 and equalized the temperatures of the master and slave unit. I assume this is an effect of the lower power consumption when the units can communicate through the trigger cable.

Could you describe or show a photo of the connexions ? I would like to try, but i don't see.
Do you hear a SQ improvement ?
Thank's

See Trigger In/Out on each unit - The cable is supplied when one purchases a set ( i.e. D400)

I own a D200 (master) now. Will the trigger cable come, apart from the Crystal digital cable, with a Slave D200 unit? If this trigger cable is supplied when buying a Slave, how long will this trigger cable be?
Yes it is supplied with the slave. I am not sure how long it is, I will need to go measure it.

Is is a normal 3.5mm stereo plug in both ends? I cant recall that my 200 Companion came with one but that can be my memory that fails me.

If you use RCA to XLR between master and slave this will not work, to bad......tried to make a new configuration but this only works if one use RCA to RCA and enables the input on the slave.
I see two inputs for jacks on each Devialets:

RS-232 Control / Optical
Trigger In

What In I may use to connect trigger cable? Trigger In?
And what about Configurator? I need to activated Trigger In on Master only? On Companion Trigger In is not available if I activated Share Inputs on Companion - and on Companion Trigger In is not available if I deactivated Share Inputs on Companion too. Its alvays grey and I cannot activated it

And if I need to choose RS-232 Control I see many option in Configurator - whats need to be activated?

Command acknowledge
Auto change notification
Echo chaining

And what speed I need to set?

Thanks!
To enable the link, you need to enable one of the source inputs on the slave.
The diagram on the configurator is wrong

The link cable goes from the trigger in/out on the master to the trigger in/out on the slave. They are the bottom jacks. The top jack is a normal 3.5mm audio input which can be toggled. I would not bother playing with this unless you are using remote automation.

There is no configuration for the link cable, as I said enable an input on the slave and it will all come to life.

The trigger cable is a standard 3.5mm on both ends. My D400 came with an unbranded white 31"/78cm-long trigger cable. I hear D900 owners get an AudioQuest Sydney trigger cable with their Original d'Atelier so I'm sure other standard 3.5mm cables work.

Connected the trigger cable to the lower trigger port of the master (labeled TRIGGER IN/OUT) and upper trigger port of the slave unit (labeled RS-232/OPTICAL 2).

In the Configurator, configure the Chaining connection between master and slave to "Share sources from Companion" and enable at least one input on the slave (I enabled the digital input).

In the attached picture I've highlight the applicable portions of the Configuration screen as I've configured it.
yes, sorry i wrote some rubbish two posts up
had not tested properly

I was struggling to get an input on the slave to actually make sound. I just tried again as per Deviousalet's words but also checked the option "Chaining Input" and that appears to have enable the input i wanted no the slave
