hi all,

just thought i'd let you know my meanderings through Phantom & Branch cabling.

1. I decided to dump the ethernet cables supplied by Devialet with the Branch's and run some BJC instead ($20 for 9' each).
https://www.bluejeanscable.com/store/dat.../index.htm

2. Also dumped the RJ45 Branch double ethernet connector and just ran the 9' of BJC straight from the Phantom down the Branch, through the hole in the base and onto the network switch.

3. Used a 1' length of the same BJC from the Dialog to the network switch.

4. Same principle with the TOSLINK and substituted a Lifatec optical - http://www.lifatec.com/toslink2.html again straight from the Phantom, bypassing the Branch base interconnect and on to my Pro-Jec turntable (or just go Lifetec to Dialog).

5. Finally, i glued the mains double-ended connector into the base of the Branch as it flaps around too much.
I was thinking of doing the same one day, once I finalise my cable lengths that I need. Getting rid of the joiners can't be a bad thing.
Has Devialet tried to preclude the use of rewireable Europlugs to feed the base of the Branch stands?

Devialet supply moulded plugs which may have a longer insert travel that rewireable Earplugs, hence the former fit securely (but don't allow you to change cable or get away from that horrible colour) whereas the latter allow both but they require some shims to be inserted to wedge the plug more securely).
