Hi all.

I have a Dialog and 2 Phantoms.

When I connect a source to the optical input of the dialog, I get occasional crackling/static sounds.  This only happens when using the optical input.  If I use Spark to play music, I have no issues.

This started recently. I've had the system for a few months now with no issues

I have already tried the following:

complete reset - as per instructions found on this forum
3 different optical sources - 2 different iMacs and an RPi with a Hifiberry Digi+
2 different cables
many different sources of music.

I've put in a support request to Devialet, but was wondering if anyone here had come across this or had any ideas to further diagnose/fix
Devialet is aware of the problem if it's something like this
Send a bug report via Spark anyhow.
It's a new "feature" introduced with latest firmware. Part of the reason I bought phantoms was that I could get the hardware and use alternative software (I am not a fan of neither spark or Spotify connect). Now I can't do that. IMO, this is just not OK at all - one thing is lack of features, another is breaking existing features.

Thanks for the responses.

I've had a note from Devialet letting me know that they are aware of the problem and expect to have it fixed in an upcoming firmware update.

Meanwhile they've said that the way to fix it is to use the input on one of the phantoms. In my case that's not possible, can't run wires across the room, so I'll have to wait.

I have asked them when they expect to release the update - let's see wht they say.
I have the same problem and have an open ticket with Devialet as well. I can confirm by switching the optical input to a Phantom from Dialog solved the problem.
I can also confirm that I have never encountered that issue with the optical cable being connected to one of my two Phantoms (in stereo).
Yep same here. I had to buy a cheap longer optical cable for now just to use one of the Phantoms.
Bad news though...now I got the static sound* that users have been talking about when using Toslink input via Spark
* It sounds like a scratched old vinyl record but I do listen to song that that sometimes have that fake vinyl sound...now I do have it on all songs.
Funny thing most people would not notice the static noise...and yes they are mostly the same people who think I'm crazy to buy speakers for similar cost as a decent used car....but I then tell them I already have a car ( just to bust their balls a bit more)
I have it too. I contact the support they know about this issue and they are "looking" how to fix it... It's a dialog firmware issue.

Pretty sure this is fixed now after the recent update

Didn't test for long but it was quite frequent and obvious for me so think it's all good now
