Does it make a big difference to the sound of Devialet if the unit is not placed on an expansive hifi rack but instead on a normal piece of furniture?

I've tried it on a Naim Fraim, an IKEA Expedit and a cardboard packing box and couldn't hear any difference in the sound. The fact that Devialet actively promote hanging it on a wall would seem to imply that they don't think the type of support matters too much
.
I have seen photos of Devialets balanced precariously on pointy cones which are no doubt made of exotic, expensive materials.
