There is the answer I received this morning:

"Following my conversations with our engineer and my colleague from the support team , it is that the symptoms you described me correspond to an anomaly have been encountered other customers .

We also collected their data to provide the engineers working on this issue for some time. We do our best to bring you a solution but it will unfortunately not immediate.

Of course I will keep you informed as best as possible on our progress. I hope to contact you soon".
I am glad there are so many beta testers before I take the plunge to install Mavericks or Yosemite. ;-))
I am glad that they are taking the 'white noise issue' seriously, now it has been reported on Yosemite as well. Before it was only reported in Windows settings. Although I am happy to say that my system is not suffering at this point. ChM

Oh, they've been taking it very seriously for half a year now...
It's just that they can't fix it Smile
And does not your post seem to imply that the complaints of the PC users are not given due consideration?
Could someone describe to me the white noise on a Mac? Does it sound like extremely loud hissing that makes you jump from the chair (or wherever else you're listening to music)? I'd like to make sure we're talking about the same thing. We, the PC users, get extremely jealous when some Mac owners claim the right to what we've considered our exclusive privilege.
I’ve downloaded/uploaded 2.1.3 and 7.1.1 (using Maverick, not Yosemite which I’m not trying until it gets stable) and I can run with an ethernet connection from my Apple Time Capsule (the new one with an Airport Extreme) so I can operate that via the ethernet or wifi settings and my only “wifi-only” connection is from my MacBook Pro to my Time Capsule router.

Result: The HD stuff is completely unlistenable. The normal stuff (ripped CDs) is fantastic.

In iTunes, I have selected Bit Perfect and iTunes EQ, and the target device buffer is set at 1000ms all as recommended.

I’ve selected an optimal wifi channel using iStumbler and inSSIDer, and my signal is -42 to -44dbm according to the Air dropdown, -43/+8 dvm according to the Devialet window, -31dbm according to iiSSIDER, and 72% signal 15% noise according to iStumbler (which is said to equate to -43dbm being 100 - (72-15)). These are inconsistent but on the Devialet website they say: "Additionally, streaming requires a strong WiFi signal at a Devialet. We advise to reach for any value higher than -55dBm - ideally -45dBm or better if possible.” so at an average of -40dbm that should be ok. The nearest overlapping channel on inSSIDer is at -70dbm compared with -31dbm with the Devialet, so that is a huge difference and should not interfere at all.

Despite all that the HD sound is just littered with interference (not dropouts, just persistent gurglings and the like) - not a trace on 16bit 44.1khz.

On top of that, for weeks now - I guess around 12 weeks - the dual-mono configurator has not worked if one wants a pre-amp output from the companion. I’ve told them three times and there is still no fix.

Anyway, after one has spent £27.5k on their electronics and given them time to sort out the gremlins, one expects it to work as promised, and it does not.

I sympathise with your frustration Ian.
Either they have grown too quickly or taken too much on in the way of trying to satisfy so many disparate owner requests, some of which go against their original basic philosophy.

Devialet is not the company I bought my original amps from any more and I, for one, very much regret the changes.

Mine works well at the moment but I have not needed to use the new configurator and I have updated nothing recently.

Recent up-dates have very definitely not always been up-grades.
Look - if you guys are so p*****d off with Devialet and want them to address your issues then rather than (or as well as) complaining on here then why not either write to/phone their CEO directly or post on their Facebook page. That normally triggers a swift response from most manufacturers Angel

I'm a relatively new owner and have no problems at all with my 200. No drop-outs, no white noise, no probs with the configurator and the updates have all been improvements for me. I really have nothing to complain about. For the price the sound is superb and their design beats most if not all others hands down.

I agree that Devialet's responses as reported by several people on here have been obscure and confusing so perhaps the answer is to by-pass support and go straight to the top. As disgruntled 800 long-term owners they would be foolish to ignore you and you would be doing us all a favour Smile
Good posting! I fully agree. This white noise soap should come to an end. It's doing no good for the name and fame of this splendid product. ChM (having no white issues by the way).

I don't post on those types of facebook (which I loathe) pages, I'm afraid, and it is too late for them to go back to where they were when I fully appreciated what they were trying to achieve technically.
I wonder if the white noise problem would ever have happened if they had not changed direction?
I believe that the engineers know my opinion. The marketing people have more or less told me that what they are doing now is better, in the years since I first made my concern known they have continued in the changed direction.
The sound quality is thankfully still brilliant and if the worst came to the worst I could always look for a used D-Premier Smile
