I also created a support ticket for this. Hope to get it replaced as I lost trust in my current remote.

Wonder what would be the scenario insurance wise in case the automatic volume change upwards (when not acted upon, e.g. kids may not know what to do) would blow up the speakers.

I just heard back from support.  Their suggestion was to have the remote replaced through my dealer.  I think they assumed that the dealer's have a "stock"of remotes and it simply a matter of exchanging them.  I have contacted my dealer and we'll see how this goes . . . !
