Just had my Phantom Gold playing music at 60/100 volume. A bass heavy track started (Dark Knight soundtrack, nothing mental) and heard a very loud pop which I initially thought was a lightbulb bursting. Circuit breaker went off along with the Phantom.

No response to power on or the three button reset, anyone else experienced this?
No matter what happens, they call it "zero watt phantom". Probably will replace your unit for free.

Perhaps that Russian hackers back and tried to detonate yours.

Sorry to hear it happened. Hopefully you get a shiny new one.
Its concerning that we see so many zero watt Phantoms. Makes me a little worried with my two golds. What happens if mine does the same thing a year later.. Will they replace it then? We shouldn't be having this issue unless these folks are getting power surges.
About 6 months back I explicitly asked Devialet support if they could give me more info on repairing and servicing of the Phantom. After a bit of prodding they admitted that they couldn't repair them since they (at that point in time) had not been able to successfully pry it open without damaging the unit!

Could be a one off issue with my unit, but considering it's the third generation of Phantom it doesn't bode well for its longevity if it's got reliability issues.
Argh, suffering music withdrawal with only a Bose Soundlink Mini to tide me over. I read that Sonos are bumping their prices up by 25% on 23/2. Anyone compared a pair of Play:5 to the Phantom? At £429 each they seem almost reasonable compared to £2190 per Phantom!
Fiat Doblo vs Ferrari LaFerrari Wink

After the Phantoms, a pair of the Sonos Play:5 might sound somehow shallow and without detail and without quite the same punch.  I have compared them - the Sonos are great, just not quite as superb as the Devialet, at least to my ears.
Nothing wrong with the Doblo, you can't take loads of crap to the dump in a Ferrari.
Just an update, Devialet Support (seem to work around the clock) just pinged me last night to say they'd do a straight swap with a new unit.

No mention of "0 watt Phantom" (probably got tired of people taking the piss!) but they did say it was uncommon and they'd look into the cause once they have the faulty unit. Will ping them for info on what failed (they've actually been pretty forthcoming with answers to my technical questions in the past) but to be honest I doubt they're gonna tell me what failed!
