Hi - can anyone who is network and Devialet (Expert) savvy help with this problem, please.

Basically the remote app hardly ever works for me, with my Devialet 400.  Occasionally it will work fine for a few days/weeks, other times not at all - usually when I start the app I just get a spinning circle at the centre - while the app tries to find a Devialet expert, but fails to.

My D400 is hardwired to my router (via a network switch) with cat5 in the walls.  I have a Virgin Media super-hub, with a strong wireless signal to all rooms - iPads, iPhones etc all get a strong wireless signal.

Am I correct in thinking that if my D400 is hardwired to the router, and the ipad/iphone are on the same network, albeit wirelessley, they should find each other somehow?

On my router the Devialet is not showing up as a connected device, either.  Shouldn't the SSID ('My Devialet') appear under connected devices?

Any advice appreciated!  Thanks

To your question whether it should find each other: absolutely. I have a similar network topology: my D120 is Ethernet wired, via PLC to my switch/Router and my iPhone is Wirelessly connected to that same router.

Do you have a PC or a mac on the same network?

If yes, when the remote is not working it would be worth trying to ping your dev from that mac or PC and see if it goes through.

Similarly, how do you feed your D with Audio? is it Air over Eth or do you use XLR or Optical or an other numeric entry?

I have the same issue. If it is connected it is not for more than maybe 20 seconds. When I disable and enable wifi on the iPhone it immediatly finds the Dev again albeit for 20 seconds.

Recently I replaced my whole network for another one with VLAN where the Dev and the iphone are in the same vlan but it doesn't change a thing regarding behaviour. Still very bad. Assigning the Dev a static IP doesn't make a difference. All other things on the network (and I have quiet a number) work flawless.

Must be another sad software implementation
Hi - yes I have a PC so can trying pinging it, but as it does not show up on the attached devices of the router I don't imagine this will be successful. Music connected via spdif and USB.

Thanks

When this happens, does the Devialet show an IP address when cycling the information with the right button on the remote after a long press to enter into the info menus?

Hi, I have just tested my 220 Pro. 2 devices are displayed. The LAN connection as "ICP Electronics" the WLAN connection is displayed as "Redpine Signals". I use Apple AirPad with the app "Fing". The connections remain as long as the 220 Pro is in operation! Shy

Property in the router, the option "device always the same IP assign". Run two networks with the same SSID in the house, no problems with Devialet or other devices!
Is it the Superhub 2 or 3 you're using?

I've recently upgraded to the superhub 3, and similarly have my D hardwired via a switch.

I find the DHCP and the wifi on the super hubs pretty poor to be honest - and even more so in the 3. Every now and again I get a slow connection to the app, as well as other apps, so it's almost certainly the virgin hub. It's speed as a cable modem is good, but like all things they're built to a price and the wifi etc aren't top spec. I'm looking at adding something like a high end TP-link wifi router and bypassing the virgin hub other than for the final internet connection.

Hardly anything shows up in the 'connected devices' tab on the virgin hubs BTW - it's useless. Use a network scanner app like Fing and it will show everything connected - if it's dropping off there there's an issue somewhere. (Shows as ICP Electronics - bit lazy Devialet) as mentioned above.

I'd periodically reboot the hub.

Also, as much as possible, use static IPs set at the device level and avoid DHCP. Not so convenient for iPhones etc but definitely do it on the D and any other static computer devicesyou have. The less the hub has to manage the better.

I suppose you could have a cabling issue (have you tested?) or wifi interference, but the above are my best guesses.

(K4680 already said about Fing, duh)
I expect Fing is reporting "ICP Electronics" (and "Redpine Signals") because they are the organisations to which the MAC addresses are registered - so in that case at least I don't think it's laziness on Devialet's part.
I'm no expert here, but shouldn't Devialet have made sure they registered them as Devialet products?

I don't own any other consumer device that doesn't show up as you'd expect.
In Fing you have the possibility to assign your own names to the devices.
For example: Devialet-LAN or Devialet-WiFi Shy
