I was reading on Audiogon and there was an owner of a Focal Utopia, whom recommended Analysis Plus Solo Crystal Oval 8 speaker cable. It matched and surpassed multi thousand pairs of big branded cables.

A 3-metres pair is US$ 3,404 ... now that's not exactly cheap  Tongue

Neither is the starting price of Devialet Expert line. I know it might sound like a crazy upgrade. However, reading the background of some of the users who theoretically "downgraded" to Devialet from multi-thousand stack systems with interconnects worth. I concluded that our community might have seen or used cables ranging from a stock to reference level to match their musical needs.
Plenty here do use (very) expensive cables. For me personally it makes no sense beyond a certain level. I'm pretty sure the '10% system cost to be spent on cables' guide was calculated by cable manufacturers, and I wouldn't spend anywhere near that for a wire in a posh sheath (admittedly sometimes combined with a box with a resistor and capacitor or whatever). Smile

That said, I don't hear half the things others hear, so they may just be wasted on me....

You should try a resister and capacitor to help deal with that top end harshness you mention appeared with Air.

Big Grin
I've tried a lot of different speaker cables over the years and I'm always amazed by the differences cables can make.  My favorite speaker cable has been JPS SC3.  Unfortuntely, they've gotten pretty pricey in recent years.   A far more affordable cable that, IMHO, is a great match for the Experts is made by Triode Wire Labs....  They do offer a 30 day trial period with full refund if you send them back.  My guess is very few if any ever get sent back.   They're based in the US but will ship anywhere.

TWL also makes what they call the High Powered Digital-American power cord.   I compared these to the stock Audioquest cables that come with the Pros and was just blown away by the improvement - particularly in the area of dynamics.  Be sure to request the new Furutech FI-C15 low-profile IEC connector which fits perfectly under the lid of the Expert.

No vested interest here other than being a very happy customer.
