I thought this was interesting since it shows some of the (fun) stuff that can be done with DSP and in a way highlights how little new stuff we have had from Devialet lately (well since May 2015):

You have to scroll down to "main Features":
  • Room Equalizer - to suppress room modes for a decent bass reproduction.

  • Creative Equalizer - a tone control with low boost/cut, high boost/cut and mid boost/cut. Very useful to correct those recordings which do not quite sound right.

  • De-Essing - the automatic removal of overly bright sibilances from human voices. The sibilance effect can be more or less pronounced depending on your speakers or room acoustics.

  • Constant Volume - adjusts the audio volume (loudness) to a constant value across all tracks played. Useful for "party mode" when the volume control should stay untouched.

  • Vinyl Emulation - get that special sonic character of a record player based playback chain. We also employ an emulation of the DMM-CD procedure offered by the Stockfisch label.

  • Crosstalk Cancelling (XTC) - for the playback of dummy head recordings or live recordings via speakers for an incredible live sensation. Dummy head recordings usually are listened to via headphones because they only work properly if the left channel goes to the left ear only and the right channel to the right ear only. With speakers this is difficult to achive as the left channel goes to the left and the right ear. But with some clever signal processing of the speaker channels is is possible to suppress the crosstalk, i.e. the audio going from the left speaker to the right ear and vice versa. If that works properly then the recording sounds as if one would be in the space where the recording has taken place. All the reverberation and 3D representation of the sound sources is there.(For speaker based playback only.)

  • Out Of Head Localization algorithm - tries to get the music "out of your head" when listening via headphones. The goal is to achieve a similar listening sensation as one gets when listening via speakers.
    (For headphone based playback only.)

The following DSP algorithms are considered for implementation:
  • Roon streaming.

  • MQA decoding.

  • Airplay.

That's an amazing list. Too much to play with for my liking but I can see the appeal of having the potential to use some of them.
That's impressive. It would be fun to try many of those features. I don't know how useful all of those would be, but at least it would be fun to try.

I really would like to have the digital room correction... (and of course Roon)  Shy I can already create awesome FIR filters in Acourate, but it would be great to use these with others inputs of Devialet as well (like turntable, AV, etc).
Just a simple 3 or 4 band parametric in the Devialet is easily achievable and vastly powerful to cure bass or tonality problems
A convolution engine would be nice.. the rest are mere fripperies
The big problem with devialet is its SD card config .. unless the parametric etc can be adjusted on the fly , its useless , a major schlep to reconfigure the amp every time you want to change things

I would say that the convolution engine would probably be the best option from sound quality perspective. Parametric eq would be ok, but I have got better results with convolution.

I totally agree with you regarding the SD card...

Couldn't agree more. I gave up even trying to set the measly bass and treble parameters. Now I get far better results in Roon, but the advantage of having it in the amp would be it was enabled on all inputs.

But agree with Rodney, unless it's a good setup interface, it would be pretty useless.

But would like to see some more Weiss-like features. Sure they might not all be to everyone's tastes, but why not? The Devialet's are powerful DSP systems at their core, but offer very little of that to the user in terms of sound preferences - other than SAM.
