I often use a pair of Audeze LCD 2 headphones driven directly from the pre out of my D200. I have tried a few headphone amps, Lehman, Schiit etc but to be honest couldn't hear much difference if any from the D200 on its own. Does anyone have any experience of using a headphone amp that was a huge step up from the sound of the pre out?
I use the Auralic Taurus amp with my HE1000 . I did try it with the Devialet but found the dedicated amp was much better. At lower volumes it was not that noticeable but when I cranked up the volume there was a big difference to my ears. It was over a year ago so can't remember , other than I wanted it to be less of a noticeable difference so I could just use the 200.
Hope this helps
Many thanks for that.
I received my Sennheiser 800S heahones which I have connected to the preouts. While it sounds very good, there is quite a difference depending on the ICM and DPM settings. ICM off seems to make much louder but have not yet decided on SQ. Does SAM have an effect here whether on or off?

Does anybody have any recommended headphone settings? Thanks min advance!
I use HD800 directly from D120 speaker out, awesome SQ compared to many headphone amp and preout from 120.

I must be first guy who got D120 primary to drive my Hifiman HE6 headphone. Both HE6 and HD800 are good with D120.
I guess you drive HE6 from speaker connections, not pre-out? How do they compare to the HD800?
Thanks, guys, but I was wondering if you adjust the settings as well on the Dev?
Question: has anybody also signed in to buy the Smith realiser a16 headphone miracle? Surround sound on stereo headphones. Combined with devialet: sensational in my opinion. ?
Help. How to set this for AKG710 headphones?

I think you’ve got everything set properly, but don’t forget to uncheck the “Mute applies to this output” circle, otherwise you won’t hear anything from your phones when you mute the amp. Also be aware that if you adjust your configuration, that the circle has a nasty habit of rechecking itself! You may want to adjust the max level if you aren’t getting enough volume in the cans without turning the volume up to silly levels.
