Wasn't sure where to put this, but what do others think? I can't remember the last time there was a genuine new feature, so I'm starting to wonder if this is still true:

Quote:The EVO® platform, the electronic architecture of Expert Pro systems, is fully driven by upgradeable software. As such, your Expert Pro undergoes constant improvement via free, regular updates, for ever improved features and performance.

Perhaps the 'Evolutive' part of EVO is no more?

(I was going to do my first poll but have no idea how to do it)
"constant improvement via free, regular updates".... hah! That certainly got lost in the translation somewhere.

My guess is that we won't see anything from Devialet until late fall. But if it goes well beyond then I'd predict there will be a lot less of us here waiting to hear something.
It wouldn't get worse than it already has. Most of the active forumers are ex-devialet who came to criticize everything promised and didn't arrive yet. And a few good pals who tend to help new users like myself when they visit once a month.

Getting worse in my opinion is for the site to get completely abandoned from the expert/pro side, leaving phantom owners discuss the dialog tweaks and how to add 10 phantoms in a row to create a home cinema.
I would guess that upcoming new features in 2017 are mostly related to the OS/streamer board.

Roon integration is something new and a welcome addition. I hope we will see this being released sometime in 2017.
I also think that guys here are very unpatient. We have the update of the amplifier for 7 Month. And the streamer should arrive the next few months.
Isn't that a constant improvement?
And i also share the opinion taht it doesnt make sens for devialet to heavily tweek the system by now when they change an important part of it in the near future. so keep your head down, enjoy your actual Expert Pro and be happy as soon as the streamer board arrives.

Good point and I agree that sometimes we are being a bit unpatient.

Problem is that there is no information available on the OS/streamer board. I think that is causing the frustration. We don't even know when it is going to be released. There are only some rumors about Q4 so the actual release date could be in 2018. Another problem is that we don't know what exactly we are waiting for. No one knows what features it will support. It could be totally useless for many. People would like to know more so that they could do decision whether to wait for the OS/streamer board or to buy something else.

Let's compare this situation for example with Apple Homepod. Apple has released already quite much information about it (when it comes available, what features it will support, how it looks like, etc). We know almost nothing about the Devialet OS/streamer board.

Agreed - the pro update is less than 12 months old and would have required a major logistics effort on the part of Devialet to execute.  Even Apple only does a major update once a year.  Everyday I listen to my system, I continue to be blown away by the quality of the sound I am hearing - far exceeds anything I have ever owned over 40 years.  There is undoubtedly better stuff out there - for a price.  And perhaps the Devialet "sound" is not to everyone's taste. My advice is to sit back, relax, pour yourself a drink, put on your favourite album and enjoy the moment.
Yes I agree that people here can sometimes get a bit antsy.

However, the recent commotion with the streamer card upgrade is mostly self-inflicted by Devialet IMHO. And it is not deal to the speed of delivery since they did hint that it would be due at the later part of this year.

What has frustrated most is their refusal to communicate about the features and the ETA of the promised streamer card.

I suspect they are emulating Apple/Steve Jobs' famous shroud of mystery with new products releases. What they fail to understand is that Apple's secrecy is on new products that people are speculating by press and people "in the know". Nobody ever paid for these new features nor are they ever promised.

With the new streamer card, Devialet promised *with great fanfare* great new things including a future streamer and DevialetOS for the new Expert series which people gladly paid good money to upgrade something that they have only bought months ago.

But after money is collected is months of radio silence, customers have no idea of what they have paid for and what features will be there. Many including myself have been holding off buying a audiophile streamer with Roon support with the hope that the new card will be rid of the AIR bug and have Roon support.

So while we are waiting, we have no idea of WHAT WE ARE WAITING FOR.

Having said that, if you talk to insiders they are actually super nice people willing to talk.

I have heard from a little bird that it should be on schedule for end Q3 and expect good things, e.g. Roon.

Hope that will come true.

Apple is a multi-multi billion dollar company - 116,000 full time employees according to Wikipedia - and is sitting on billions of dollars of spare cash.  Even then Apple only does major upgrades once a year.  I suspect Devialet is a bit more hand to mouth having to balance out cash flow against development expenditure.
at least I got an important update this year already: firmware 10.1. It gave a clearly better SQ which for me is more important than a new feature that I possibly won't use...
