Is it just an impression, or has the support of Devialet Air by Roon pretty much killed all the negativity I was feeling in this forum?

It has been very quiet since then. Wink

I assume that most posters are now enjoying great music through the Roon iPad client. So am I!

Cheers,
Bernard
Hi Bernard

Well it's easier to sail with the wind.
Of no benefit to Qobuz subscribers

As a Qobuz subscriber myself, I disagree: it's very beneficial.  If you were referring to people who listen exclusively via Qobuz, that might be a different matter.
If the Roon iPad client, unlike the Audirvana+ client, would actually work on my oldish iPad I would be happier. As I am having to replace my geriatric iPhone 4 if the iPhone 8 actually delivers, am unwilling to donate any more dosh to Apple this year. Am really happy. however, being able to power on and off my Devialet from Roon as well as controlling the volume. Nice integration.

I understand there is work underway for a web-based Roon client which would work for anything that can run a web browser including old iPads.  That could be a big win.

Regarding Devialet opposition... I think it's safe to say we all love our Devialet gear.  With that said, there certainly have been times of frustration trying to understand just what Devialet is up to.   Customer communication has never been their forte.   But certainly, the release of Roon AIR no doubt made many of us happy.

Next up... the new OS/streaming board.  I don't expect to hear much for another month but Devialet certainly has the opportunity to impress us big time with this.   Can't wait to see what it holds.

Quick replies from Roon site. My iPad is an iPad 4 which is the last 32 bit model and the Roon client needs 64 bits. Hopefully I can change my iPhone in the next month or so and that will take the software.
If this turns out to be true mdconnely, that would be very nice. Haven't started the Roon trial yet, as I had to invest to get it to work. PC too slow, iPad too old, etc. Would love to try Roon to compare SQ with my current setup. If it beats that, I could even oversee that my current setup has Qobuz fully integrated.
From my perspective - one word answer is yes! I have struggled for two years to establish a stable connection between my Devialet and my digital music - and some of the solutions I adopted, I now recognise as not the best in terms of sound quality, now I have Roon Ethernet working. There is an extra dimension in terms of sound quality. I still get the very rare click or stutter - but as someone who started off in the vinyl era that is nothing. (And I am usually the cause of these clicks etc as they occur when I am doing stuff such as transferring files into the NAS that I use to store my music library - but even then it only happens occasionally).

I was particularly sceptical about Roon metadata and indexing as nearly all of my very large collection is classical. I must admit I have been pleasantly surprised. I continue to use my own album titles, but have gone with Roon for almost everything else. I have even uncovered a few duplicated albums! Roon discovery has made all sorts of interesting connections within my music collection - and I now listen much greater variety of music.

The Tidal integration is excellent. I am also a Qobuz subscriber - if only Qobuz was integrated in the same way as Tidal! We cannot have everything. I would probably relinquish my Tidal subscription if this was the case.

The bottom line is that if you are a serious music listener wanting to get best out both your music collection and your Devialet - Roon is the way!

Yes, that, and the somewhat clearer announcement of the availability date of the streamer board.

However, still no info on the functionality of the streamer board and what it brings to the table.

But overall, I think the Devialet bunch is actually quite easy to please.... ???

Or maybe people lost interest?
