Vincent at Totaldac has sent me his new USB Gigafilter for review. First impressions are that the filter box is considerably larger (15cm long) and the cable/cable terminations seem sturdier. The cable itself appears to be based on a Phoenix Contact Variosub USB cable.

Here's a quick pic I took earlier:

Will report back once I've had a chance to have a listen.

No way! The screws are potted anyway.

Anyway I'm sure Vincent wouldn't appreciate me pulling apart the cable and posting on here.

The price is hot Angry

Gigafilter, very high end USB filter/cable 0.6m or 1m: 1750euros incl VAT in Europe, 1600euros excl VAT out of Europe
Gigafilter, very high end USB filter/cable 2m: 1850euros incl VAT in Europe, 1700euros excl VAT out of Europe
I can’t wait to hear your impression on it
It's a monster! The original barely stayed in my wall mounted 200 and needed cable tie to another wire to hold it. Don't think this new one would stand much of a chance....

Makes me glad to not be using USB any more I have to say - I haven't thought/worried about cables for such a long time now. Smile

So .... how is it ?
I’m about buy one and I’m very curious Smile
Devialet doesn't use 5V from USB computer power lines. No need for such big filter here. Just properly done DATA pair!
