It was going to be delivered Monday, but now I'm not sure. I hope they'll clear it soon so it can still be delivered Monday.

So plenty of "bang for your buck" then Tongue.

It's still "stuck" BTW in this this status. I don't think I'll receive it Monday as originally planned. Oh well, it'll probably be Tuesday then.

All very frustrating for you. Hope it arrives very soon.

Hi Jnan, thanks! Confused was right, all is 'documented' in this topic, which also serves as my 'logbook' of changes. Smile

I no longer use the WiFi/ethernet/USB inputs of the Devialet as I found the AES/EBU input to be superior. The current chain is: Sonore microRendu -> Curious USB cable -> Mutec MC-3+ USB -> DH Labs D-110 AES/EBU -> Devialet 250

The microRendu is fed music data from my DIY NAS PC (in a different room) running Roon Server over ethernet. I use fiber optic ethernet converters in front of the microRendu. Remote control is using an iPad Pro 12.9" running Roon (Control).

Should have paid attention to details Big Grin !.

Why cant it be sent directly from uRendu -> USB -> Dev? Signals exchanging between multiple stages (these are active devices) means signal integrity being convoluted ? Might have been old topic but hope you have found SQ improvement direct USB over AES/EBU even thought there is conversion ?
Thank you David! Smile

@Jnan_devi, sure, the uR can be connected directly to the Devialet USB input. However the Mutec is there to improve the sound quality. It has galvanic isolation of the USB input (the Devialet doesn't), converts the USB stream to AES/EBU (which probably is the best input into the Devialet) and does re-clocking using high quality clocks. This is the short answer, the longer answer/my views on this matter can be found here: http://devialetchat.com/showthread.php?t...5#pid44725

I was browsing the thread on CA and is it true that it can only reclock PCM?  I assume that reclocking still works with DOP?

Will it run off USB power like the Hydra-Z?  I have a SOTM USB card on Batteries so in my case USB power is a rather clean power option.
Hi Dr Tone, this is indeed true and confirmed by Mutec. It can't pass through and/or re-clock DSD/DoP and converts DSD/DoP streams (64-256) to PCM audio with a selectable output clock rate.

Currently one also has to manually switch to DSD/DoP mode but this will become automatic with the new firmware that should be released this month.

The Mutec is powered by an internal SMPS except for the USB input module which (to provide additional power domain isolation) is indeed powered by the USB bus.
Thanks Antoine!

I'll have to wait I guess. I have 50/50 DSD and PCM so manually switching isn't something I want to do. I find sending DSD direct to the Devialet and having it process it sounds better than converting it prior.

Your welcome of course! And wow, that's a large share of DSD you have, I can understand why it's important for you that it is 'handled' in the most optimal way. In my case the only DSD I have are samplers so for me it's not an issue at all.
Getting the PH PSU here is becoming quite the adventure! Wink

@#$!@#$ UPS/increased security. I was expecting the PSU today but when I checked for tracking updates this morning the PSU had been going the wrong way and was 'out for delivery' in Edinburgh. Huh  Hold on, that's not where I live!

After calling UPS here in NL, who couldn't tell me a thing of course, I've contacted Paul Hynes and he and his intermediary shipper were able to get an proper update from UPS. The X-ray equipment on Glasgow airport isn't powerful enough to penetrate the aluminium metal casing so they've sent it to Edinburgh Airport which has more powerful equipment. I'm hoping it is powerful enough so it can be sent on it's intended way.

To be continued!

Phewwww...the PH PSU seems to have finally passed the 'aviation security screening' as it's in Holland now 'out for delivery' and should be delivered today. I am at home but unfortunately I have to go out for a few hours this afternoon so I could still miss the delivery guy.
This afternoon the Paul Hynes SR7EHD-MR4 has been finally delivered by UPS. Cool  It's big and heavy! (10kg)

It's all hooked up now and working perfectly. Before I connected it to my equipment I checked the output voltages using a multimeter but these were all already perfectly set to the specified voltages by Paul. It's now powering the microRendu, DSPeaker Anti-Mode 2.0 and the fiber optic ethernet converter. At a later time, perhaps tomorrow, I will modify the Mutec so it too will be powered by it.

I had to sacrifice the one drawer of my 'lowboard' (Just Racks JRL 1650) in which all my equipment is 'put away' behind swinging doors and the one drawer, except for the Devialet which is on top of it. However this 'sacrifice' is no issue at all, I didn't really need the drawer and could use the space it occupied much better for an additional device. The HDPlex was behind the lowboard but the PH was too big to fit in that same space so I got my jig saw and bzzzzzt, bzzzzt, done, bottom of the drawer removed except for the parts to which the sliding rails and front are mounted! Big Grin

The jig saw machine did make me a bit 'deaf' though, so I'll reserve any SQ remarks for a later time! Smile
