I wonder if this is with or without SAM
These are not 4*Devialet 400, but 8*Devialet 200.

The demo with the Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus will take place with active amplifiyng. This does mean that one amplifier is driving one of the loudspeakers drive units. So 4 amps per loudspeakerbox.

Here is some explanation at the Devialet helpdesk

In Google Translate the blog (originally in French only) tells us:

Quote:Devialet is pleased to invite you to a special day organized with Bowers & Wilkins.

Come and hear the ultimate system consisting of 8 Devialet 200 active multi-amplification on the mythical B & W speakers Nautilus.

Meet at La Maison Devialet, Saturday, November 22 between 11am and 19h.

Lovers, beware!

Like you I am wondering if SAM is usefull in this configuration, or even possible for that matter. My guess: it's not!
I was told that a Nautilus owner asked Devialet if they could take the B&W crossover characteristic and programme it into their DSP, which they could and the said owner has been enjoying such a system for some time.

The Nautilus was on my short-list when I did a 2 year evaluation of everything I fancied in the 90s. They were the final compare with the Goldmund Epilogs and I so wanted them to be the better in the comparison since they look so gorgeous. But I preferred the Goldmunds on comparing them. The biggest part of the project was finding dealers who could demonstrate kit like that and sadly the place that could is closed now since the proprietor retired Sad
This has been done before by the way several years back with 8 D-Premiers.
the devialet can only be configured as a highpass or lowpass. In order to get a signal for a midrange speaker you need to have both. Maybe that is something they have added to a new firmware/configurator ?
With the current version you can only build an active 2-way speaker. Or did I miss something ?
And if SAM is active the crossover functionality is deactivated.

At the beginning Devialet offered to do a special configuration of your amp for you before the configurator came on line and continued afterwards if you wanted something not in the standard configurator and the DSP could cope.

I don't know if they would still do this now they have an explosion of new models and owners, but certainly the 8 D-Premier installation with B&W Nautilus speakers was done for the customer by Devialet some considerable time ago.
no matter what tech or configuration is behind this, the looks are breathtaking !!!
Indeed, it's a fully custom setup, not something anyone is able to configure using the Devialet Configurator. The characteristics of the original B&W passive crossover filters are emulated by the Devialets in DSP thus creating a fully active (vs. passive) filter setup and direct amplification of each driver in the loudspeaker of course.

This also goes way beyond what a standard SAM config can do although I expect that in the new setup with the Devialet 200's some of what is normally done for SAM (the measurement part of the drivers etc.) is done for this setup as well. Undoubtedly it is very expensive but you can't drive your loudspeakers in a better way than like this.
I wonder if they are the very same Nautilus's (or Nautili?) Smile
I'd love to hear a blast of white noise on these babies!
