Hi All.

I've got a couple of gold phantoms and a dialog and I just have some questions.

1. Do they use electricity when plugged in but not playing - ie would I be better to unplug them when not in use for prolonged periods of time? I learnt the hard way not to press the button 3x on the back to do this. Just reset them and had to lug them back upstairs to my router to repeat the registration process (aaargh!!)

2. Does anyone cover them when not in use? I was thinking about using the sock thing that they came packaged in to try and minimise them getting dusty/dirty - they're in a room with an open fire so more dusty than average.

3. I want to take them outside in summer it won't be anywhere near my router and won't be on the same electrical grid. I want to be able to play both of them together via bluetooth. Not necessarily in stereo but just so I can spread the joy :-). Is it possible to stream to them both at once via bluetooth without using the dialog?

4. Did anyone well up the first time they heard the sound from these things? We sat in stunned silence and just thought wow!

I can give you my take on some of your questions.

I've asked Devialet about the consequency of no putting Phantoms off,telling them about the fact they kept warm. They told me it was not a problem and that keeping them plugged is the normal situation. Of course this means they use electricity, as does any devices in standby mode (with no light here).

Regarding covering them when not in use, thtat's what i do when I use one of my two Golds in a flat we live in during the summer on the seaside. With a unique room for kitchen and lounge, I want to prevent it from cooking effects. I use the sock thing but I wait they cool down to do it. I didn't notice heat accumulation when I remove it.

I never use bluetooth because of heavy sound degradation.

These Phantoms are like anything new... like new car.. you tend to wash the brand new car every week until you are tired...
My point is.. you may end up breaking the phantom whilst trying to cover and uncover the dam thing... just leave it in the open air and clean it from time to time with a clean cloth and screen wash liquid...

Like any amplifier.. it use the electricity when in use and almost nothing when off... so leave the dam speakers plugged in...
There is no point trying to save the electricity by unplugging your phantom. The cost of the phantoms do not look great with any attempt to save any penny on electricity...bills..

Bluetooth...outdoor..
If you bring one phantom outdoor, you can stream anything from you mobile device via Bluetooth...
Dialog will only work if connected to the home network.. to be able view all the Phantoms...

Besides, your mobile device will only connect to one device at any time... you can not stream on two devices from one single source... so only one phantom is good outdoor..
Or you can bring two Phantoms out and stream same music or track or playlist from two different devices/sources... you need to perform a good synchro...from those two devices.. a challenge...
